As a gift for a 12 old, it was perfect, but it would serve just as well for an adult. It's well made, a good price, it looks good and performs surprisingly well in terms of magnification, although the field of view is somewhat restricted.

So my eldest daughter has been getting annoying of late, she is getting to that age where she doesnt belive in magic, started to say the fairy messages were me, peter pan wasnt real and that worst of all, the star wars prequels were better than the original..Something had to be done.So I purchased this spyglass, etched it with a kit I bought (review incoming) and put the name of Captain Hook on it.Now the spyglass was great, lovely finish, lovely case, and what surprised me the most, it actually worked, there was me thinking it was but a mere ornament, to my surprise, it was a fully functioning spyglass... so hats off, lovely product.To those that want to know...Whilst building a sand castle on the isle of wight, my daughter dug deep and found the spyglass in the sand... needless to say she is a believer in magic....

No good for a adult,the eye hole is half the size you need for a adult to look through. Maybe ok for a small child.
