Mikrotik SXT LTE kit Cellular network modem router

This is a brilliant piece of kit. I am about 500m from a mast and get about the most you could expect to get from a UK carrier (50mbps early morning and 20-25mbps throughout the day when loaded). I have it on my roof line and connect via Ethernet with inline power to another Mikrotik WiFi router. Works very well, much better than others using coax cable. There is a limit on Ethernet of 100m before attenuation which is great for the average home implementation.

Firstly the Good - 1) For our application - I live 3.5 miles from the nearest mast, however I could receive 6-9 Mb/s standing on roof of 12ft shed with mobile phone. With this device mounted at 22ft (see pic) I achieve 18 Mb/s download & 15MB/s upload daytime & 9+ Mb/s 5+Mb/s after 7pm. By comparison with the Vodafone (Ireland) Huawei 4G router with 8 Mb/s daytime, I did not measure other. 2) The device has been running so far 12 days continuously, with no loss of signal or reboot. 3) This unit is very fairly priced. The Not so Good - 1) Mikrotik are both SOHO / large enterprise solution providers. With this comes both the robustness & flexibility of configuration that may be expected of / from this customer base, but unfortunately the support for the novice is little, both direct from customer support & their forums. However, this obstacle may be overcome. a) The router for a straight forward setup works out of the box (with SIM). b) As I placed this device - ASUS Router > Mikrotik SXT LTE > WAN , I needed help to overcome double NAT. I found help at UPWORK dot com & can personally recommend an expert Mr. A.G. (Russia). 2) No IP rating, but is offered as an outdoor router... This may be overcome, by the manufacture of a suitable cover (see pic). 3) For seller - see my review - Conclusion: With patience & given the options & considering the difficulties of getting > 10 Mb/s in rural areas - this router is very well worth a try. It offers a solid solution, but of course may only work where a signal exists - no miracles expressed or implied :)

Really good bit of kit - does exactly what it's meant to - paired it with an EE 500GB a month sim and got a great signal in a rural location with speeds ten times faster than a poor rural broadband connection.

Great bit of kit works with all networks for data but not VOIP Eu plug supplied not Uk so lose a star.

As with all Mikrotik products, works flawlessly

Wenn sie einen LTE-Router bei ungünstiger Mobil-Empfangslage für ihr LAN-Netzwerk benötigen, dann ist dieses Gerät genau richtig. Hier ist eine Richtantenne mit dem LTE-Router in einem Gehäuse verbaut. Diese Kombination kann an einem günstigen Empfangsort aufgebaut werden. Die Verbindung zu ihrem LAN-Router erfolgt über ein LAN-Kabel an eine WAN-Buchse. Die Stromversorgung wird mittels eines beiliegendem Adapters und Netzteils in dieses LAN-Kabel eingespeist. Der Vorteil ist, dass das LAN-Kabel verlustfrei einen großen Abstand überbrücken kann, im Gegensatz bei einem System mit Router und externer Antenne; hierbei wird der Antennengewinn schnell durch das Antennenkabel aufgezehrt. Nachteil der Konstruktion: Das Gehäuse ist sehr klein gehalten, so das das LAN-Kabel nur einen kurzen Knickschutz haben darf. Fazit: Hier haben Ingenieure und nicht Designer ein brauchbares Gerät entwickelt. Meinen Dank an diese Leute.

Works great. Easy to setup. Didn't get the boost in signal that everyone saw but it was simple and had survived the Michigan summer so far
