Great quality coat!
I purchased this coat for my son for Christmas. He’s 24 yo, 6’2”, about 190lbs, and muscular on top but lean built. We ordered both a large and medium because he normally wears large in coats, jackets, suit, jackets, shirts, but the comments were making us wonder if a smaller size would work better for him. And it did. The medium fit him best because it allows him to wear a long sleeve shirt underneath and still be able to move and feel comfortable. He’s not one to wear a lot of layers and then a coat. He wants to wear one long sleeve shirt and a coat that can keep him warm. And so far after several weeks of wearing this coat, he says it’s very warm and he’s very happy with it.

Great jacket
This is a really well made and designed jacket, as expected from Carhartt. The Full Swing features are fantastic, the material seems really durable, and the DWR should last awhile as I don't plan to wash it too often. It should be great for working outside in the winter with wind, snow, or a light rain. As with most Carhartt jackets, I'm somewhere between a Medium and Large size at 6' 185 lbs with relatively broad shoulders, minimal gut. I ordered both a Medium and Large because there was a sale and I wanted to get the right-sized jacket at the sale price, and Amazon's free return shipping made that easy. With the Full Swing design, I could get away with a Medium and a snugger fit. But opted for the Large so I could fit quilted bib overalls and an extra layer or two underneath no problem. The big difference between the two sizes seemed to be almost entirely in the chest/torso measurements. I believe the Large had slightly wider shoulders and longer sleeves, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if they were the same and the extra width in the chest was all of the difference in perception in that regard. The jacket has a cinch cord at the bottom hem, so the extra room in the large can be cinched up to prevent wind coming up. But I also thought that the extra room in the large would help the jacket breath a bit better while working outside and help me not overheat. If you're on the fence about what size to get: order a size down if you want a snugger fit, order your normal size in other brands if you want room for layers. The Full Swing design will accommodate both while maintaining full range of motion and comfort. The hood is very large, but assuming that's to fit over a hard hat. It was equally large on both the Medium and Large sizes. The zipper was a little smaller than I was accustomed to with Carhartts in the past and it was not a double, but it was also much easier to zip up and down - and seems plenty durable.

Giving Carhartt a second chance!
I like the style, fit, and price. My only gripe is some of the threads appear to be already coming loose especially around the cuffs. I hope this isnt indicative of the quality. I hope its just a minor defect and won't progess further than a few threads. Ive only worn it a few times seems very warm but hasnt been super cold either. If your roughly my size and medium build go for the large as it runs a bit small. I really love the how comfortable it is. Feels light but heavy enough to consider it a winter jacket. My last carhartt didnt hold up at all and lasted only a couple years before it started to wear out. Im giving the another shot as I always liked carhartts but it seems the quality has slipped in the last few years. I hope this jacket restores my faith in one of my favorite brands.

Buy a size down. Great quality, warm jacket.
Size is a bit big. I’m 240 and the L fits perfect. Full range of motion! WARM! You won’t be disappointed.

Best jacket ever!
So I suprised my husband with this jacket and he absolutely loves it!! He wore it the first day he got it to go grill in the rain and coldish winds. He said he never got cold or got too warm and was completely dry. Definitely worth the price!!

HUGE HOOD!!!/ best jacket I’ve had
Great jacket. Works well with my carhartt duck vest. I’m 6’3” and 250. I had a medium jacket for the longest time and it was getting tight around the shoulders (and everywhere else). I usually wear an xl but carhartt is always a size and a half large. It fit as expected because I know this. This is my new everyday jacket. It is warm (I live in Alaska so this is important to me), comfortable and not bad looking. But my goodness the hood is HUGE!!! My head disappears in it! If you are not wearing an hat it will cover your eyes and there is no way to fix it with the pull string. Otherwise 5 stars

Stylish, Durable, and Feature-Packed Jacket for Spring, Fall and Winter
As the evenings grow cooler and the leaves will soon begin to turn, I knew it was time to invest in a new fall and winter jacket. After careful consideration, I settled on this model, and it has not disappointed me at all. Let me share my thoughts on this stylish and versatile jacket. One thing that immediately stood out to me is its durability. This jacket is clearly built to withstand the rigors of daily wear and outdoor adventures. From the robust stitching to the high-quality materials, it gives me the confidence that it will last for many seasons to come. Now, let's talk about the "Full Swing" feature. Surprisingly, although it is sold as "Full Swing," it doesn't explicitly state it anywhere on the jacket. Nevertheless, after comparing it to some others I've seen, it's evident that this is indeed the "Full Swing" model. The freedom of movement it offers is remarkable, making it a great choice for any active lifestyle.Returning to its design, the unique grey-green “Tarmac” colour (akin to Ranger Green) will add a touch of distinction to my fall wardrobe. While it wasn't what I initially expected, I have grown to appreciate its standout appearance, and it complements various outfits.I was pleasantly surprised by the thoughtful design elements, such as the two inside pockets—one zippered on the left and another Velcro on the right. They will provide ample storage space for my EDC essentials, ensuring I have everything I need within easy reach. When I first put on the jacket, I noticed the smooth quilted nylon lining, which prevented it from catching on my shirt sleeves—a small detail, but one that makes wearing it hassle-free.The Thinsulate insulation will be a game-changer. It should keep me comfortably warm without the bulk, and I can confidently say it's ready to tackle the colder days ahead.Lastly, I can't stress enough how well this jacket will handle different activities. Whether I'm running errands around town, enjoying outdoor activities, or chopping firewood it will adapt seamlessly to my body movements, making it an excellent companion for all occasions. In conclusion, this jacket is a hidden gem. Its durability, "Full Swing" flexibility, and practical design make it a standout choice for the upcoming fall and winter seasons. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a stylish and reliable jacket for various adventures.
