Is it necessary to replace the old wheel when installing a new sensor? I have an old craftsman screw drive opener with a worm gear on the end.

Mine was old Craftsman chain drive but the plastic wheel was larger than the old one and I had to make some adjustment to use the new wheel. But I would try the senor with the old wheel to see if it works.

my motor will not reverse; sensors are installed okay

You may need to change out the rpm sensor. I had a similar problem with an older lift master door opener and it would start to reverse and then go back up. I replaced the rpm sensor and problem was gone.

Hi , I had a sears opener from 1992 or so and I did fix it , can't remember but may have been slightly different but maybe better in some way
