Decent iron - not the best
Have always loved Weller irons, however the overall quality of this new iron versus my retiring iron is obvious. The power cable is lighter weight and the metallurgy of the soldering tips are much lower quality metal. In the end it’s a soldering iron for the average tasks, definitely not pro workbench quality.

Best soldering iron ive used
I bought one of these after using a friends, and I'm never buying anything else. These get HOT, and they do so very quickly. I have many rolls of solder and I needed enough heat to deal with anything I happen to pick up. I also ordered a cup of flux paste and dip the tip (just the last 1/8 inch) in that after wiping it off once in a while. The one thing I will note is that the entire tip can and will hold solder. If you notice that the tip looks fat and you have no ball of solder, it has spread all the way around the tip and its time to clean it, flux dip, and then let it sit for a while to burn a little and oxidize behind the flux, so that it stops sucking solder all the way up.The LEDs are very useful when soldering in not-ideal amounts of light. I often use them to inspect my joint, as my head is usually in the way of my light source.

Works great
I've been using this soldering iron for quite some time for electronics work and I've had no issues with it as of yet. The LED lighting in the handle is very nice for giving off some extra light when working on delicate components that are harder to see due to their size. It is a bit difficult to find replacement tips however, as I found out when lost one of them down a crack when it fell out after cooling. The included solder is a bit useless as there is so little of it, but I have several rolls anyways so it's of no importance in my case. The rubberized handle gives a great grip and I've had no issues with the handle getting too hot even after using it for an extended period of time. The included cable is too short to reach my workstations, so I'd recommend getting a heavy duty (read: not the cheap ones from the dollar store) extension cord to extend the reach of the soldering iron. It is a high wattage iron for electronics that can sometimes be a little too hot for sensitive PCB, so you need to very quickly solder the components on in order to keep it from burning the PCB.

For a beginner, this was a great soldering iron to start with.
I bought this to use on my jewelry and so far it works great. I use some silver solder to attach wires to pieces and attach pieces to each other. I'm still learning how to solder so I'll update this when I know more, but a friend recommended this Weller soldering iron and it works great for my needs. I like that it has flat edges around the middle so you can set it down and not worry about the tip touching your surface or the iron rolling away. It's easy to hold on to and the extra tips are a big plus. The only thing is I wish the cord were just a bit longer, but I can get an extension cord to fix that. Overall, very happy with this.

Plug and Play
Easy to use. The toughest thing about it is getting it out of the packaging. Just choose the attachment and plug it in. I specifically bought a 40 watt for work on plastics, but it works on wiring as well. I use mine with a flathead attachment for welding plastics. I recently fixed a snowmobile windshield that was cracked along the side. Even worked on the molding. Fixed the wiring harness as well by soldering in some new wires. Leaking plastic gas tank is next. Very happy with this simple piece of kit.
