4.5 Stars. Easy Install with a Slight Scare!
I'd always wanted a trailer hitch on my Buick Rendezvous. We take it so many places and fill it with so much stuff that I knew one day I'd have put things outside! I'd even bought a hitch-mounting bike rack BEFORE the hitch...so I had to have one. When my wife had me struggling to load our mountain bikes into the trunk that was the last straw. I got on Amazon determined to order a hitch that was:1) Inexpensive.2) From a reputable company.2) Easy to install.3) Robust.4) Got good reviews with plausible rationalizations for any negative reviews.Curt was a brand I knew, the same name as a prominent family member. This model certainly filled the requirements. I was concerned about the prominence of shipping damage. However, I reasoned that these hitches pull 3500lb trailers; it would take SERIOUS abuse to cause that much distortion. These must have been the same hitch circulated to multiple customers; not a great company practice but it certainly wouldn't happen to ME! I took a gamble and ordered this one. While waiting, I watched several videos about the installation process. Having done the same installation to my daughter's Ford Contour many years before (still working great BTW) I was familiar with the process but there's always components in the way or special tools you might need that can slow the job down. Judging by the videos, however, this was going to be a piece of cake!!Well, I didn't have to wait long to find out because--even with Super Saver shipping--it arrived in only 2 days! I had it before the weekend and decided to install Friday night. I took a look at the packaging. Everything was included, even the spiral-wound, bolt-inserting wire that was an orderable option with other hitches. Laying under the rear at dusk with just enough time to install this thing, I had the scare of my life: the videos had shown long, slender bolt mounting plates but these were very wide and short. I compared it to one of the holes I had to pass it through; there was no way it was going into that tiny oblong. I checked the same hole on the other side: same story! "They must have sent the wrong parts," I grumbled. I tried the second hole on one side. Surprisingly, it was a larger hole which bouyed my spirits...but only momentarily 'cause it was STILL too small to fit the parts through. Dejected, I checked the second hole on the other side and, boy am I glad I did. Since it's the frame of the vehicle I thought the steel would be too thick and strong to be widened but someone or something had bent the end of the oblong hole outward disproving my assumption. It was just enough to allow the plate and bolt to pass through on that side. I got out my file and vise grips and was just able to widen the first side a millimeter to pass the parts in. 45 minutes later, the hitch was installed! Dropping the spare tire and drilling out the rear mounting holes were trivial ancillary tasks after that initial scare. So here I am Saturday morning about to embark on a joyous bike ride with my lovely wife that would have been an ordeal before. Don't let the lack of a convenient bike rack ruin your weekend. A Hitch in Time Saved Mine!

Took the chance due to pricing, regardless of 1 bad review.
I didn't want to put a lot of money into a hitch, since these days every dollar counts. So I ordered this one regardless of the bad review. Am I glad I did. I received the box and the box was damaged. I immediately opened it to find. . . . . . . . only the box was damaged. This hitch is very strongly built and not a scratch on it.Although it was poorly packaged, the shippers took enough care of it that it arrived in A1 shape. Installation was very easy by my self. I installed one on a chevy van one other time and it took much longer for that one. I was done and cleaned up with the hitch installation in less than an hour.Instructions suggest dropping the spare tire and rear of exhaust. I found no reason to do that. In fact, by letting the exhaust in place, it helped me to hold the passengers side up while I installed the driver side nuts. One thing I did find helpfull on my 04 Aztek that was not on the instructions, was to remove the plastic push pin located above the exhaust pipe that is to help hold the bumper on. It just seemed to be in the way, and when the hitch is on, it pushes up there anyway. No regrets on this purchase.

Some caution on Curt 13469
Curt hitch 13469 received in good condition, box was OK. Quality of hitch is nice. Watch the videos on line about installation. Curt supplies reinforcing plates that must go inside the frame. As you can see from their Bill of Material, these are 1.5 inches wide. The holes in my frame are 1.25 inches long. So, as long as you can fit a wide part thru a narrow hole, go for it! HINT #1: something needs to be modified. Hint #2: other brands use a reinforcing plate that is 1.0 inches wide. Curt MFG told me they would send new parts, and that was over a month ago and I'm still waiting.

Easy install if you read reviews
So i read the reviews that said you would need to grind down the plates that go in the frame just a bit. So the first thing i did was get down there and try it myself. Sure enough needed to take about 1/16 off each plate. So i put them in a vice and ground away with a disc grinder. That took about 8 minutes. Then it was really easy. The install kit came with that fishing wire for the bolts made each side cake. Took about 15 minutes (including the none frame bolts that you have to drill to install). Nice upgrade for the car and it tows my smaller trailer like a dream.

manufacturing quality control?
We ordered this hitch and received it in a timely manner and the condition of the box was pristine. However, upon opening the box we noticed immediately it was completely bent on one side, which made it impossible to install. It was obvious to us it left the manufacturer this way, especially since the box had no damage. We returned it and ordered a replacement and that one was also bent, although not as severly as the first so we made this one work but it took some time. All-in-all dealing with Amazon was a painless process, but the manufacturer has a lot to be desired and really does need to have better quality control. Buyer beware...

need a drill bit
It didn't fit as the video suggested - had to buy a drill bit to make it fit - looked like the manufacturer sent the wrong slide in part.Should have taken 10 minutes to install but because of the slide in part, it took an hour to go to hardware store and drill it in.

I would not recommend it for Pontiac AZTEK
!!!!Pontiac Aztek!!!!! Attention!!!!! If you have a Pontiac Aztek, the square hole spacers will not fit through the slots in the frame rail, so you will have to enlarge the holes in the frame. Curt thinks that you can do all of that plus the rest of the installation in 30 minutes. Good luck with that. How much would have been to supply two more spaces only 1.25" wide? $1? 2$? I would have been happy to pay for that.
