No functionality what so ever. Use them for any container that "sweats" and you'll be wiping up the puddle that fell thru the slats. (( notice the mugs are mty in the picture )) The whole idea for using coasters in the first place, is to not have any residue issues ? !They do not stack ! ? VERTICALLY ! ? in the holder provided = I threw IT away. I'm keeping the "coasters" themselves though as a reminder of symbolism over substance.Went back to using traditional coasters instead . . . because they work.
