Dimensions Gold Collection Counted Cross Stitch Bookmark Craft Kit, 2 pc

These were fun to do and came out beautifully. My mom was a big reader, her whole life, and I made them for her for Christmas; I loved seeing them in the middle of her books when I would go to visit. One of my favorite kits I’ve ever completed.

I have finished one of the bookmarks and I love it. (I started with the pink and yellow vine themed one.) The finished bookmark is much prettier than the product picture shows. I would recommend this project for someone who is at least an advanced beginner. The cross stitching part didn't take very long, but the back-stitching, satin stitch, french knots and turkey work took several hours (approximately 15-20 hours of total work, including ironing and finishing the back...though it may have taken me a little longer because I had never done turkey work before). There are a two small issues that are easily taken care of. The first issue is that the thread comes presorted on cards... once you pull one free there is no way to re-attach the thread to the card. I solved this problem by using a small hole punch to make holes above the colors on the card. (I actually found this far less irritating than purchasing a kit where the thread is not sorted at all.) The second issue is that the kit does not come with a back for the bookmarks. I used a piece of white felt and some fabric glue to cover the back and it turned out very nice. The bookmarks are large. I wouldn't use one in a paperback book, but they are perfect for large hardback books. I actually gave the first one to my mother as a gift to use in her family bible. After finishing the first one, I can honestly say that I would have paid a lot more than they are charging for this kit. The instructions are easy to understand and the quality of the finished product is really nice.

Very pretty threads seem to be a good quality and I am anxious to do these bookmarks. I have several projects in my queue ahead of this, but I love to Crosstitch and embroidery bookmarks so it won’t be long. If but right now it just looks like a great quality product And I don’t have any complaints. I would purchase a similar bookmark only with a different pattern again as a dimensions kit.

I loved the pattern and finished product, as always with Dimensions. However, you had to finish the fabric into a bookmark...I though it would come as a bookmark already.

These bookmark patterns are lovely, even prettier made up than the picture might indicate. Don't let the size fool you though, they're fairly difficult especially the blue one. This isn't a one-sitting project, but the work is ultimately worth it. An important note, the kit doesn't come with any backing for the book marks. I used adhesive felt on the first one I made, but may need to use something a little more durable and that affixes better on the next one. Overall, a fun, unique project.

I haven’t started these yet, but everything you need is included except a hoop. The colors are beautiful. Remember - this is a counted cross stitch - no printing! If you are new to this kind of needlework, you may want to start with something easier. You need to count to find your place. I can’t wait to see the finished product.

I'm still in the middle of stitching the two bookmarks. I love how they're turning out. For as small as they are, they require a keen attention to detail. Because the kit includes two separate patterns, that may be stitched side by side, I find that I must be ever mindful of which pattern I'm actively working so the appropriate set of threads are used.

The kit arrived quickly and without any damage. The stitching is challenging, but if the instructions are followed a beginner could complete the work. This is not a weekend project, but will take multiple hours to complete. The kit does not include any backing, so each person has the option to finish the book marks however they prefer. This can lead to extra time and costs, which should be considered. The floss comes in the new format that dimensions is using (they glue the ends to a labelled paper), so there will be no floss sorter included in this kit.
