Wow, really impressed - first impressions are excellent!
First let me say - DO NOT PUT KNIVES IN THE DISHWASHER!We purchased this 5" utility knife to replace a deteriorating Zwilling 6" utility knife that had been in service for about 20 years - the current comparable knife would be the gourmet line. Wow, what an improvement. We believe this older knife's handles started to crack because of it going through the dishwasher for a few years - before we stopped. The weight, fit and balance are confidence boosting and is a pleasure to use. The blade's aesthetics are nice and at arms length compares to true Damascus knives. The patterns seems to be laser etched. However I didn't seriously expect true Damascus that at this price point. The grip is beautiful and this part of the knife does compare well against the more expensive knives from Germany and Japan. The performance is excellent and it is our preferred knife when chopping medium to small sized items. We have several Zwilling Pro line knives and it compares well against those knives. Since it is new, it seems to cut and chop better, but time will tell.As a comparison to see if the quality warranted the higher price. We also bought (and returned) a Miyabi Hibana Rocking Santoku to compare. While this knife was beautiful and well balanced, we found the blade very thin and made us nervous to use it for anything needing some effort to cut.So happy with this knife we bought the 7" Santoku to replace the Miyabi!

Great knife
This little beauty feels great in the hand. What a bargain; and you because of the reasonable price I don't worry about using it. Still quite sharp after several months. I own some high-dollar knives and I really can't tell the difference.

Pretty, but Check The Handle
This is a good looking knife. The box is a great presentation, and it was sharp right out of the box. I used it at Thanksgiving to carver the turkey, and from a blade perspective, worked great. My one star off is for the handle. First, it’s a little short for my taste, and very round. There is also no heel in the bolster, so your hand can easily slip onto the blade if you’re not careful. Once I got a little turkey on my hands while carving, the knife became a bit hard to use, as my hands really slipped around the slick handle. But, it cut through the turkey just fine.Overall, good knife.

A bargin Buy with a good look and an even better handle!!
I really like the feel of the handle!! And the weight is very balanced. The blade is very sharp, however the “Damascus” is not very distinct and is more of a cosmetic-spray on look (if that makes sense) definitely not textured like one would think. But, other than that, I am absolutely 100% pleased with this knife and would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a new sharp chef knife!! Especially at this price. I own a set of Shun knives and this is close to the them in quality. I actually like the feel of the handle of this knife better!!

surprisingly awesome
I was surprised at how much i love this knife. After using a wusthoff santoku for the last 10 years, I noticed that my index finger would get irritated where it touched the top of the blade at the front of the handle. The tapered design of this knife completely got rid of that and it is heavier and better balanced than my wusthoff. The knife has almost a chrome look to it and the benefit of that is that food doesn't stick to it, at all. I used to have to peel tomatoes off of my old one and this one has no problem with them. I'm buying a couple more for gifts for my family.

not real Damascus is a feature not a bug
It's a solid knife. Some people have noted it is not real Damascus steel. That is why I bought it. Quality varies widely and this is made of VG-10 which is a solid mid grade steel that is better than most stainless steels used for knife making. For a VG-10 blade, this is a great deal. A good amount of quality for the money.

Amazing and beautiful
These knives are beautiful. Came with a very well done raindrop damascus finish. I bought 1 of the kitchen knives and now I want nothing but turwho. Razor sharp and you can see the protruded hardened edge in the damascus layering. I have no doubt it will take and hold a great edge when i finally have to resharpen.

Blade becomes notched when cutting chicken bones
Initially the blade was completely even, notches appeared immediately as I was cutting through the chicken which had bones. All those notches are a result of cutting chicken for a few weeks. I just don’t see how it’s considered to be for strong.
