Run for cover.
Got this watch after falling off running for about 6 months, so I needed to justify spending $150 on something. Nike has a solid piece of equipment here, if not too basic. Features include pace, speed (mi/km), laps (auto/man), GPS, est kcal burned (never use this for any device) GPS always works well, sometimes takes a while (1 mile even) to find me, but that makes sense since I'm running 6" miles!! If not working, it syncs my footpod and my times always match up. Pace is my least and most liked feature. Keeps me going, but frustrates me. I can't seem to get lower than 5'55" miles. argh. I'll just have to return it for one that makes me faster! The nike+ software online is solid. really cool ways of staying on top of your running like routes, goals (run more, run farther), trophies earned for different milestones (fastest, longest, most runs in a week, etc); keeps track of total miles, and compares you to other runners in your age group. Has a route feature similar to mapmyrun but not as good. I brought this to the UK when I studied abroad and had a fun time bragging about my international runs on Facebook. In all this watch is comparable to the garmin 210/610, if not a bit bulkier and more basic. Not very familiar with the Garmin Fit software, but they seem comparable. Nike is more sports-tastic and fun, whereas Garmins is a bit more technical. Either way, the watch is solid. Some complained that the usb port on the watch (right at the edge of the strap tucked under a plastic flap with hinges that folds back to expose the port, will break easily. I could see this, but mine's still in tact and I'm about as careless as they come. Cheers nike.

Great watch for the runner/student of exercise science!
I'm sure my review will not be the greatest because I don't know all the ins and outs of the technological world, but what I do know is I love this watch. I wear it everyday. I was required to purchase a heart rate monitor watch combination for my exercise science course and I decided to go with this product. Mainly because of the Nike+ involvement I was already in, I figured I could continue using their program and support their programs by buying their products. The reviews for this watch are great and they are true. I have had so many compliments on my watch and I love the way it looks. I especially love the convenience of having my speed, avg. pace, distance, heart rate, time elapsed, and clock displayed all on my wrist in watch form. (How cool is that?!?) I am amazed at technology and absolutely love the availability of the information provided. I love that the watch is waterproof. I work with preschool children and there's never a day that I don't have at least two spills on my hands from drinks or paint water. I am constantly washing my hands and I don't have to take the watch off. the charge of the watch lasts about 2 weeks for me even running 4-5 times per week for 30-60 minutes. I use the alarm as a backup to my nightstand alarm clock. and being able to view my history of runs is great for being prepared for my class. I can prove to my professor that I really did run yesterday if he questions me.

Works as advertised
The sensor works quite well with the product. There can be times when the GPS does not sync up very fast (especially the first few times you ever use it) and it can lose signal quite easily running through a thick forested path. Other than some slight sync issues with the GPS, the battery lasts a good bit on a full charge, the software and Nike website is a nice resource. The illuminating backlight can be finicky sometimes (takes a few taps for the light to come on) but overall the product works extremely well and tracks quite effectively. The strap does seem a little flimsy and I am not sure how it will hold up with heavy regular use so I will hopefully update the review after a few months of heavy use.

Complete Piece of Garbage
Below is my review I did on February 19, 2014 - about a month after I bought the product. In five months, this watch has turned into a piece of crap that I wish I would have never bought. First and foremost, the battery life is now awful. I charge it fully every single night, and even if I don't run that day, it will still completely die the next day. I upload my runs after each run and update the satellite data, and yet, it still takes 10 minutes each time I go for a run. You also cannot edit your runs on the Nike+ site. You have to go to their Facebook page and ask them to modify your runs. I will invest in a Garmin running watch and keep my runs backed up on a spreadsheet that I can edit. You are paying for a flashy piece of fashion, but it is better served as the ass end of toilet paper. ___________________________________________________________________ I bought this watch based on a friend who has it. I read some of the awful reviews that is on this thread. I decided to pull the trigger and see for myself. So far, I love it. I have used it for 36 miles of running so far. Here are my pros and cons of the watch. Pros 1) Battery life: Nike rates it at 9 continuous hours of running. I can say that is accurate. I ran a 31 mile ultra marathon yesterday with it. The race was in the back woods of Arkansas. It tracked me for 8 hours. After that, the GPS stopped but the clock was still going. It stopped tracking me at 28 miles of 31. No biggie, I will just correct the miles on my nike + account. But for my normal runs of 6-15 miles, it will last. If you turn the GPS off, the idle battery will last over a month. 2) Shoe pod: This is great for running inside or if you do not have satellite reception. It'll save your battery. I used only gps yesterday. I don't wear Nike shoes, so I didn't have a dedicated spot to hold the pod. 3) Satellite signal: I read so many awful stories about the gps not syncing. Yesterday in the woods, it took three minutes to link up. After that, it tracked me through tree cover. Usually at my house in Texas, it picks up the satellite in under 10 seconds. 4) USB: the port is built into the watch band. Simply unsnap the clip. You can plug into your computer to sync your data and a wall USB charger. The nike software will update your account and you can see it on the nike app on your phone. CONS 1) Software: you have to install the nike plus software on your computer. There's no easy way to find it. I had to search the nike plus site and finally found it. 2) Clock: you can't adjust your clock on the watch the first time. You have to use the Nike app to adjust the watch setting. After that, you can use the watch to set the clock. 3) Battery indicator: my watch came half charged as expected. I plugged it in to charge it fully. Within a second if said full. I knew that was false. I removed it from the charger and the indicator said low battery. I had to do a system restore. That seemed to reset the software. It functions normally now. 4) Export data: I'm not too worried about this, but some folks like to be able to export run data to other sites. Sadly, nike holds your data hostage. Again, I don't care about it because I have been using only nike+ for three years. I love the interfaces.

Very useful to track stats.
Overall, this is a very good watch to use while running. If you need to calculate splits or simply to gauge how long you have run in distance or time, it works very well. My only issue, and it is a small one at that, is that the volume of the notification beeps is very low. I typically use headphones when I run to listen to music. I wanted to do some interval work and the watch does beep at the intervals I set up. The volume is low and cannot be heard if you wear a headphone or if there is traffic around you. It would be great if it would vibrate as well, but it is a small thing. If you jog early in the morning or in a quiet neighborhood, there will be no issue. If you run in the city or wear headphones, you won't hear the beep and will have to keep looking at the watch to know when the interval ends. Again, this is a small thing and may not apply to most runners. Otherwise, it is a solid watch for running.

Im a Garmin Convert - I love this watch
Ive used Garmin for years and they do a great job. Most recently I was using the forerunner 210. I love the look of this watch and on a whim - went for it. It picks up the GPS signal much faster than my Garmin. Not sure why but this was my main frustration with the Garmin. Ive used this watch now in the US and across Europe and I always get a good fast GPS signal pickup. I also like the simplicity. I dont need much. I like to track my pace when Im running and distance. Then overtime see how far Ive run, average pace, elevation etc. This watch works well for that. Its also easy to click on when running to see the time (if Im on a long run). I couldnt do this easily on the Garmin. The Nike Plus site is also fine for me. Maybe not if you are super serious. Best of all - NO CABLES. They send a cable with it - but you dont need it. It has a little USB connector under the catch that plugs straight into my Mac for download and charge. I kept trying to turn it off - I still cant figure out if you can turn it off (My Garmin would drain easily - so I always turned it off after a run). This I cant figure out how to! - But not a problem - it holds the charge for days and if it drains - I just plug it into my Mac. No hunting for cables

Disappointing
I really wanted to be impressed by this GPS watch. Before buying it, I'd been using the Nike+ GPS app to record my runs and I loved the interface and the information it provided, but hated running with my phone on my arm. I wanted to love this watch, too, but I've been pretty disappointed. Firstly, the watch is really clunky and hard. The shape of it grinds on my wrist bone and is just all around uncomfortable. It's also hard to snap into place and I always worry I'm going to snap the USB off. Secondly, it takes at least a couple minutes to sink to the GPS and the little foot thing (which is hard to run comfortable with unless you have the Nike shoes to go with it, but I prefer Asics) is not very accurate. Once it's up and running there's no problem, but when I sink it to my computer it's a real pain in the butt. There a new update every single time, which is annoying. Then once it syncs, Nike+ Online pops up and you have to log in in order to sync it to your account and view your run details, etc. This wouldn't be a big deal except the website seems to have tons of errors and it's almost not worth the trouble, which is a problem since I specifically enjoy viewing my runs on Nike+. Pros: It's Nike, if you're into that. Sleek looking design Syncs to Nike+ Cons: Takes a long time to get GPS signal Foot pod inaccurate Clunky and uncomfortable Nike+ website is gltchy

So awesome, it got stolen twice!
This was my second Nike+. It is an awesome product and it did everything they said it would. The only drawback is that it won't communicate with the Iphone App. So, you can only use one at the time. You won't be able to upload your runs to Nike.com immediately, but I was not too worried about that. I like the Nike app for the music interface and the mile updates, so I was hoping the two would connect. I was also afraid about the battery life--since it does have to be charged on your USB port. Be NOT afraid. I used it everyday for almost a month and did not have to recharge it. Now that's awesome. Just be careful. Nike+ SportWatch is highly coveted! I got my second one stolen, and this time right out of my bathroom as my landlord allowed workers to come in. Perhaps Nike could include a GPS locator on its next version??? Just an idea!
