They Work Great
I bought these because I enjoy having unusual and/or quirky lighters. My expectations were low because I've been let down by lots cheap Chinese made things I've bought in the past. I envisioned sitting patiently waiting for something to happen then throwing them in a drawer or the garbage when I was disappointed once again. Not today... When aimed correctly, which isn't difficult to do at all, it took only seconds to light a cigarette. I'm sure you'd have the same results with kindling or similar material. Having one of these around for camping or emergency situations is a very good idea. They're also invaluable if you're like me and just like to say, "hey, check this out..."

Fun to use, easy once you do it right
Got these for camping, I was happy they worked so well! Just FYI, they only work when the sun is out, closer to noon the better!

Cool idea, haven't made them work.
In two tries on hot sunny days I could not get them to work. Since cigarettes don't exist in the 21st century, I tried using toilet paper in the holder. Either they need an aiming device, since it is impossible to tell if they are pointed at the sun, or they need a larger diameter, or both. Yeah I know they want to be compact, but as is, I have not got them to work yet. Compact is nice, but actually being functional is required. And now it is pushing winter, so I probably won't even try again until summer. Cool idea....implementation is not good enough.

Doesn’t work in rain
Couldn’t start a fire to keep warm in the rain.

They don't work ..
I think these might work better if you had a more reliable sun. Here It rises way too early in the morning to be useful and it sets just when you could use it. We actually have to turn on the lights after 8:00 p.m. I thought these lighters would be great emergency campground equipment but I can't get it to light anything no matter how I angle it into the sun I've done it for 15-20 minutes trying to get it at noon time in the middle of summer and haven't been able to even get a spark. I'm sure it's not the fine product I'm sure it's the defective sun

Great product
Yes they are plastic but do they ignite cotton, char cloth, and find steel wool yes! Is it another way to light a fire yes . Does it take practice and a completely sunny day yes! For the price this is unbeatable!

This is coolest thing i ever bought on amazon
Don't listen to the people who say it doesn't work or it's made of plastic blah blah. Yes it's made of plastic snd of course it has to be sunny for it to work but you also have to point it up towards the sun for it to work and it's only going to work at that length in the picture. If you want to ignite something that isn't a cigarette, take the spring out and hold what you want to ignite at the correct distance where the mirror's focal point is. Also, of course smoking it bad, but i think cigarettes taste cleaner when you light them with this thing. A+ product, i would recommend it to anyone who likes cool toys or anyone who has a thing for parabolic mirrors.
