This is the best dictionary money can buy for Kindle
This is the best dictionary money can buy for Kindle, despite some minor issues which i will list in this review, of course Longman Contemporary of Engliah is more academically set up and more robust, but unfortunately they dont have a kindle version, and they kinda sux when it comes to Electronic dictionaries, any way here are the on points:Pros:. Marvelous to use, very clean and organized.. Easy and clever difintions to the point of amazement very clear and enjoyable to read.. Not only It offeres yype of the wrod ( noun, verb, adj... Etc) but also the description of the meaning like (approval, disapproval, formal, informal... Etc) .. Clean layout with bold fonts where its needed and other tricks to distinguish each purposes like (verb forms, types and examples).. Gives you alot of examples of how a word is actually used and gramaticly structured in a sentence, further more enhance your understanding and memory of it.. Gives you all form of the verb and the way to pronounce it as a verb and as a noun.. Thesaurus fo most words.Cons:. Definitions can some times be a little long and can be shortened.. Sometimes missing some special usage of the word like mythologies references.. Some large words like (make,pluck... Etc) doesnt fully show but only shows the first unscrollable 4 rows, and you have to open the dictionary from the option box (the 3 vertical dots) to see the full definition, which require additional steps, i don't know if this is a Kindle Voyage compatibility issue or Collins fault? cause i have the built in Oxford dictionary and it shows the full difinition (not as big as collins to be fare cause some Collins definitions of important words can be as big as 20 pages).. Some verbs definitions only show the original form as an unclickable or inactive link, and you have to go again to the dictionary to see the full difinition of that verb and then the links become active..!. Needs an update to the DB for example some new social words or more specialized words or new age computer reference words like "decompile" are not defined.I really hope that collins will update and fix those issues and to freely update me to the 9th version when ever it comes out, i strongly recommend this dictionary for English learners and anyone wants a great and enjoyable actual English dictionary.

[updated] Great for children, teens and especially for English as second language
Great! As I expected. Thanks[update 2018]It is EXTREMELY great for someone who speaks English as second language(ESL) as well as children and teens. I would say if you are preparing IELTS or TOEFL, have this dictionary with you. Finding a word from online is easy, quick and maybe cheap, however it will, most likely, not stick to your brain for long. I had to go back to online may times to check the definition of same words that I searched previously, which I found that was wasting my time and efforts in long term. With paper dictionary will take your time to find a word and may need some practice, but it will stay in your brain longer because you need to keep thinking of the words over and over while you are finding the definitions. With this dictionary will help you to understand words better with sentences and examples which is the reason I am using this dictionary every time. I have other dictionary like Webster's which I found not so helpful for someone like me ESL<Comparison.>Webster's Collegiate - Forbid : 1. To proscribe from or as if from the position of one in authorityAdvanced Learner's - Forbid: 1. If you forbid someone to do something, or if you forbid an activity, you order that is much not be done.Of course you need to spend some time to remind the word continuously to make the word yours. But this dictionary definitely help you and may bring you some fun learning English.Other thing that I like is the quality. The paper is thick and very durable compare to regular dictionary which is easyly worn out. It also have some colored pictures which is nice to have and great way to remember any words really.Hopefully my review help you decide to have this dictionary or not and good luck!

Excellent for kids
Definitions are given with usage and without using complex words so kid can understand. Hooks up to kindle so it pops up when you click. One criticism is that because it is British english some words don't popup due to spelling differences. Also sometimes but rarely tense or plural forms cause issue with lookup on kindle. Fixing these issues in an update that would be freely available would make it a 5 star.

The only Kindle dictionary that you can really use for listening with text to speech apps
I have always dreamed of listening a learner's dictionary, as a ESL student I've got a hard copy of the main ones like the Oxford, Longman, and the Merriam webster but after several attempts I never got to read more that a 10% of any of them, I'm a busy person so I was looking for a way for listening to them instead, I tried several of them but the format of them make it impossible to listening effectively with a text to speech app, until I find this one, guys is PERFECT I only have to activate the TalkBack feature on my android phone and it works like a charm, I started to used it 2 days ago and I've already listened 2% of it. It's seems that at last I'm going to be able to fulfill my goal.

as a Collins dictionary it is
only slightly above average. I used to have a 4th edition published in 2003 but it was not so suitable for my needs and I sold it. The reasons were that it has fewer words than OALD and Longman; and it was not as good as the 1995 revised edition. But this edition has quite improved. Not only has it glossy paper but includes the frequently used words in daily discourse. When I look at some words, this Collins defines the meaning better than that of the 2019 unabridged version.

Good dictionary.
It is a good dictionary in the advanced learner category. Using easy to understand definitions and sample sentences.I would prefer if it would be a separate app because it is more complicated and slower to use it in kindle format.

Non sono molto soddisfatto
Le definizioni non sono complete come nei dizionari Cambridge e Oxford.
