This is the original Tune Trapper Antenna that has "wow'd" customers since it's introduction in 2004. Whip antennas on boats don't last long due to UV and vibration. The TT was designed to be hidden and mounted anywhere in the hull or in any compartment or just dropped behind your radio. The TT no ground plane design works well on all vehicles, especially fiberglass boats, cars, rv's where a good ground plane is non-existant. Most vertical whip antennas are a 1/4 wave ground plane. The Tune Trapper is a full 1/2 wave helical dipole wound with many feet of sensitive mag wire and requires no ground or power. Each TT is hand tuned to the FM frequency band 87.5-108 MHz with special instruments. The antenna is sealed in a unique pvc housing for harsh marine use. The TT center fed dipole is great for overhead console mounted radios. The Tune Trapper is 24" long x 1/2" diameter. Complete with 6 feet of 95% copper braid shielded coax cable to eliminate EMI noise. Cable is terminated with a standard Motorola connector to plug directly into your radio. These antennas are all hand made in the USA. All connections are soldered. Each antenna is individually bench tested to ensure crystal clear reception. Performance is guaranteed. Radios already have sensitive pre amps built in - they're just looking for a properly tuned antenna to make them rock.

Tune Trapper / Great, Great Product - Exceptional Inexpensive Buy
Ok, if your reading this it's because you have been burned before, like me on antennas - well look no further - this product does exactly what it says it will do and more. I struggled on the lower Potomac River with my boat radio getting clear and solid FM radio signals, until I lucked into buying this invention, based on reading the reviews like mine, I read before my purchase. I am buying (2) two more as it's the best versatile antenna on the market and the service delivery is FAST too! Go to Pep Boys and get a 12ft cable extension, to increase the height of the antenna on your boat and improve the reception even more if needed - Fred Howe

Traps the Tunes
The FM antenna that came installed on the Marine Audio MA300 from the factory in my Crownline boat was nothing more than a piece of wire tied up under the dashboard. It provided terrible reception, even of local stations. Most troubling was that the radio would not receive the local weather broadcast channels, which is a critical safety function of the radio.I looked around and found this antenna. Though not thrilled to be spending this kind of cash on an antenna, I decided to give it a shot given all of the reviews.I'm glad I did! The radio now receives local stations in stereo, and even picks up the weather broadcast channel. Very happy with the antenna. It was easy to install and came with everything you would need to install it. I stuck it up under the dashboard because I had few other options. If you're having problems with reception, give this one a shot!

Works great in my truck camper
I added this to pull in stations better and to be able to remove the stock antenna on the roof (in the way of a solar panel)It fit in the cabinet and pulls in stations great.

Good Antenna, slightly pricey.
Bought this antenna last summer and installed it in my Malibu. I chose to mount it against the inside of the fiberglass hull about 6 inches below the outside stainless steel rub rail. I did this by gluing an 8 inch by 3 inch piece of plywood that I had previously varnished (to keep it from absorbing water) to the interior fiberglass hull using epoxy. Then I simply screwed the antenna to the wood (not through the hull!).If you are not getting good reception, try moving the antenna around to different locations. Also, as it says in the directions, mount it away from metal, at least 6 inches. Which means don't mount it under the dash under the windshield frame above. Metal on the other side of fiberglass is the same as metal right next to the antenna. Also, I believe it states in the directions that this antenna does not work well inside a metal fender for instance. Glass and plastic are OK, but metal absorbs the signal to a certain extent I guess. My Tune Trapper antenna is giving me better reception than I was getting in my old boat with an external rubber antenna. It works well and is invisible. The reason I only gave it four stars is cost... It may not be worth it for everyone, but I am very happy.

Worth every penny!
The lake where we do most of our boating has only marginal FM signals. But I thought it would be nice to hear weather reports and news while we were on the lake. I knew that one of the cheapie antennas wouldn't cut it because I had tried them on our last boat without success. The Tune Trapper seemed expensive but I decided to give it a try. I am really glad I did. This antenna is amazingly effective. I compared stations on my car radio (with the normal whip antenna) to the same stations with the Tune Trapper. Many stations that were completely unlistenable come in clearly-- in stereo-- with the Tune Trapper. Because it can be hidden and protected from sunlight, I think it will last longer, too. I highly recommend this antenna.
