Is this scanner Twain compliant?

Yes it has twain drivers. We also use an ppen source program called irfanview to handle the scanner interface with our management software.

Does this come with the calibration and cleaning sheets?

What does it mean "hardware only?" The suggestion is software might be needed but is not included? How would one acquire the software?

I think some of these are sold with "IDSCAN" software to save contacts into other software - we just needed the scanned image and it showed up as a scanner on the computer. Drivers, calibration pdf, etc is downloadable from their website.

no the 800nr only scans a picture of the license. the 800r will populate information fields from the picture scan if you have the proper software and setup.

Does what it is designed for

We use the scanner for scanning driver's licenses and insurance cards. Reliable, fast. Drivers install easily. We've been using this scanner for years at our pediatric clinics.

Very temperamental. 1/2 on warranty support (2nd requiring complete replacement of device at my expense). In short; its job is to scan IDs and/or business cards? Why does it not do this without multiple calibrations and re-installs of the software? Would attempt to buy another brand if given the chance for a full re-deployment.

Stopped working after 6 months of moderate usage

This scanner stopped working after 6 months. Tried to problem solve with support to no avail. There is no way to exchange this scanner. A scanner with moderate usage should last more than 6 months. Very disappointing.
