I love all of Stephanie Laurens.💜💜💜 I hope you enjoy it too.. 💖💖💖💖
This, then, was the beginning of his happiness—the happiness he’d married to secure. Her beside him, on his arm, his ring on her finger as they faced the world side by side. His estate was prospering and would prosper even more, well into the future as, together, they created and established the Glengarah Thoroughbred breeding program. Joy, love, life—now he had her as his wife, he had everything he needed to meet any challenge as they moved forward into their future, one they would craft and mold. It was there, waiting—and together, they would seize it. As if sensing that welling, swelling resolution moving through him, Pru looked up, met his eyes, briefly searched them, then smiled. “This has been the most incredible day. No dramas—or at least, only the good kind.” He smiled and lightly squeezed her hand. “Today has been perfect.” Pru read the truth of that in his emerald eyes, and her heart sang. She felt so deeply anchored here, at his side, in his castle, at Glengarah, she—who had always thought herself wedded to the downs of Newmarket—was at a loss to explain it. Her little finger rubbed lightly against the worked gold band that was her wedding ring. It was quite heavy, even weighty, surprisingly substantial given the delicacy of the filigree work, yet that weight felt right, as if the ring belonged exactly where it was. And that was it, wasn’t it? Her being here felt right—fundamentally right—because this was her rightful place, her own true home. The understanding, the simplicity of it, rolled through her—and settled inside. An anchor, a new foundation, acknowledged. She looked up at Deaglan; he was presently looking across the room at her brothers, who were talking to her cousin Christopher. She seized the moment to, with her eyes, trace Deaglan’s face, his features, now beloved, imprinted on her heart. She’d found her home. It was here, with him. He was her lodestar, her anchor, her place. He was the home of her heart.

Not as Exciting or Intense as some of her books, but still a good read
I’ve never met a Stephanie Laurens book that I didn’t love – and this one is no different. Demon (A Rogue's Proposal) was one of my favorites in the original Cynster books and now, I get a peek at him in his sixties and I loved him all over again. Those original books presented us with the most memorable and larger-than-life characters, and it is nice to see them as they’ve grown older. Meeting their children has been so much fun. I’ve loved all of the later books too, but those heroes are pale in comparison to the originals.Twenty-nine-year-old Prudence (Pru) Cynster now runs the breeding program for the Cynster stables. She’s the oldest of four siblings and all except the youngest are involved in running the stables. As head of the breeding program, Pru knows that they need a fresh infusion of breeding stock to remain in the top position. Pru has decided not to marry – she cares nothing for fripperies, balls, teas – she’d much rather be out among the horses – but – her mother is trying to persuade her to have ‘just one more season’. Then, to Pru’s delight, she receives a letter from Ireland asking if the Cynsters might be interested in an ‘arrangement’ with the writer's breeding stock. The letter includes enough information about the horses to intrigue Pru and she knows she has to leave immediately for Ireland – well – immediately after managing to convince her father to allow it. She sends a letter to Ireland to let them know she’s coming and sets off. After his father’s death, Deaglan Fitzgerald, now Earl of Glengarah, returns home to Ireland to find a neglected estate. His father never cared for the estate nor the people who resided on it – the ONLY thing he cared about was collecting prime horseflesh. He didn’t collect for making a profit or using the horses in any way – he only wanted to possess the very best horses. Deaglan is slowly putting things to right on the estate and his next task needs to be the stables because they are a drain on the estate – not adding anything at all – other than the beauty of the horses themselves.Deaglan was on his way into his castle when his brother Felix came hurrying up to him – filled with excitement. Deaglan manages to calm him and find out what has happened. Shocked, but not unhappy, Deaglan learns that Felix has written to the Cynster stables – using Deaglan’s name – and a P.H. Cynster is on his way – to arrive that very afternoon! When the visitor’s carriage arrives, a beautiful woman alights – hmmm – she must be P. H. Cynster’s sister or wife. Lucky man if it is his wife. So, why is it taking so long for P. H. Cynster to leave the carriage – then, the footman shuts the door leaving only the beautiful woman and her two servants standing there. Deaglan can’t believe it – P. H. Cynster is a woman! As Pru and Deaglan evaluate the horses and work together – sinister things begin to happen. Are they accidents? It doesn’t seem like it. As they work together and as they try to puzzle out what is causing the ‘things’ to happen, they become closer and closer. This is a pretty steamy read and it begins early on – but Pru puts some limitations on their relationship from the very beginning. Daeglan agrees to the stipulations, but he’s not sure he’s happy about them. Can he overcome Pru’s objections to marriage? This book isn’t quite as intense and urgent as some of this author’s books, but it does have arson, murder attempts, theft, and betrayal – they are just somewhat blander than some.I highly recommend the book – I loved it.

Like mother, like daughter
I really liked this book. I found the world of horse breeding and the characters very interesting. Both Prudence and Deaglan were very engaging and fully expressed their passion for their job. I had very much enjoyed Felicity's story and here her daughter continues in the same vein. Of course, I had guessed very early on who the villain of the piece was, but that is not was was really important. It was great to see other members of the family gradually appearing and the relationship between the siblings heart warming.I very much liked Deaglan, his sense of values and the reasons which had taken him away from his estate in Ireland. All in all , an enjoyable and interesting tale, different from the haut ton shenanigans in London.Well done Stephanie, I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

I loved the main characters but......
I really loved Pru and Deaglan - a match made in heaven between a strong independent woman who knows her stuff and a very manly man who cares for his people with a passion.Having said that, my expectations having been set by previous stories in the Cynster series, I was disappointed with most of the romantic interaction between them.As always I love stories that feature and reference other members of the Cynster family as this makes them all the more real to me. The romance and the “jeopardy” sub plot are both interesting and entertaining - although probably a bit too much is centred around the horses (maybe understandable as this is Pru we’re dealing with!) - but the development and detail of Pru and Deaglan’s relationship was lacking.I’ve said this before in other reviews but, while I don’t require pages and pages of steamy sex scenes to enjoy a story, my expectations had been set by previous stories in this series and as such I was expecting a similar reading experience. Probably my bad but sometimes you’re just looking for a bit of spice and rely on someone who has more than delivered in the past to meet your needs so in this case - and only in this respect - I was disappointed.Dear Ms Laurens - please, please bring back some of your old “spicy” magic to this series of books and leave your new “sweet” magic to the other series.

A Letter, Surprises and Afterwards
When a letter arrives at the home of Demon Cynster, hinting at an unknown herd of horses in Ireland, Prudence Cynster insists that she has to visit, and if they are what is needed to improve the family racing stables.Felix, younger brother of Deglan Fitzgerald, now Earl of Glengarah, knowing that his brother intends to make his stables pay for themselves and help the estate. A letter signed P. H. Cynster arrives, shortly before it's author, who is not quite who was expected. Not long after, incidents begin happening, all pointing to an attempt to prevent the breeding programme. After other incidents point to the target now aimed at Deglan. Also as they work together, Deglan realizes that he wants more with Prudence. As each problem is solved, leading to the next, before Prudence also admits that she wants and feels like she has come home. As the truth of who is behind everything and why, that someone else has been set up as the scapegoat, before all is made clear, ending with a happy ever after.Another great story with plenty of twists before all is revealed. Can't wait for the next book.

a disappointing rendition
I'm so sorry, I just could not bring myself to continue past about 30%, due to unbearable boredom, relentless head-hopping and incredibly stilted and uninspiring interactions between all the cast. I have *loved* other titles by this author, and I so wish the bite of something exciting had grabbed hold of this story and given it a good shake to get rid of the chaff, but at a third through, I have given up.

Amazing, wonderful, perfect...
When's the next one? Oh yes, I've got to wait until the end of April, that feels like a very long time to wait.I have read every one of Stephanie's books and loved every one of them.If you like regency, or in this case Victorian, romance, you will love the characters and stories and get more hooked with each one you read. Start with any one of them, they can all be read as stand alone novels, but the characters keep showing up in other books and you soon realise that all either family, friend or work colleagues. It's a great world to escape to, but be warned, they're addictive!
