WICKED ! Loud - Powerful - Crystal Clear Music !!!
I bought a 1996 Classic Silverado truck that had the original stereo with separate CD player that needed replacing. I rely heavily on reviews before I make any purchases but I decided to "roll the dice" on the Boss 650UA. At 50+ years old I didn't see the need to spend huge money on a stereo for a standard cab truck. One concern that I had was compromising quality for price. WRONG ! What started as a stereo and new speakers has blown into a system that's nothing short of AWESOME ! I know there are those who have unlimited funds that spend thousands on a great stereo, I'm not one of those people. I bought the Boss 650UA Head Unit, Boss CH6530 Chaos Exxtreme 6.5 " door speakers, the Boss CH4630 4x6" speakers for the rear posts and a Sound Storm EV 400 4 channel amp. It sounded pretty good but lacked bass. I could have stopped there but I continued to improve the system over the next two weeks. Next was the Sound Storm SSL S4EQ Equalizer. (Sound Storm is Boss). Then I bought 2 Boss Audio CXX10 Chaos Exxtreme 800 Watt 10" Subs and a Boss Audio R1100M Riot 1100 Watt amp to drive them. I was on a roll so why stop there ? lol Next was the Boss Audio NX694 6x9 4 way 800 Watt full range speakers with a Boss Audio PT 1000 Phantom Amp to drive them. All packed into a Standard Cab truck. lol Also bought a 2 Farad Capacitor and a Power Distribution Block just to be safe. Getting ready to complete my system with 2 Tweeters and then I'm finished. So with everything said and done I have less than $ 400.00 into this entire system and let me say it ROCKS ! No engine noise, no distortion, just crystal clear and clean music at an affordable price. The 2 Subs under the seats sound fantastic ! I could have bought the Clarion, the Alpine etc., and the price tag would doubled or tripled but for me this is an awesome system that's worth every penny. If I had it to do all over again I wouldn't change a thing ! My suggestions would be TAKE YOUR TIME ! It's any easy "Do It Yourself" install if you follow the wiring diagrams that are provided. Also use the thickest gauge wiring that you can -Amps, Speakers, Battery, Ground, etc.. Don't buy a great system and then skimp on the wire ! As far as the negative comments go, I would ignore them. Boss makes quality audio at affordable prices. I would have to recommend Boss Audio to everyone !!!

It was working fine and one day decided to quit
Some of the functions(ie. Mode, Scan, Forward/Back tuner/seek buttons) stopped working after 2 months of use. It was working fine and one day decided to quit, thing is I had seen some of the negative reviews but decided to still take a chance, not wanting to spend to much money on a stereo, because my factory was a piece of crap, starting to fail and had to be replaced. So heads up to all considering buying this! I have opened a technical help ticket online with Boss Intl Group Help Desk, and received an automated email saying I'll get a response(usually within 24 hrs), it's been a week and still nothing. I'm surprised this model is so cheaply made, considering the others aren't, I know Boss has been around for years and would expect more quality and better engineering. You get what you pay for. Update: I got the stereo working again by reading the manual and seeing that when you swap your vehicle's battery(which I had done), you need reset the stereo w/ the button behind the face plate and it'll configure the programming. Problem solved!

Good, Cheap bluetooth radio
Radio works great and was fairly simple to put in (with the right equipment). Radio is fairly simple to use. My only complaints are the way the Bluetooth functions with the phones & the remote control that it comes with. The Bluetooth doesn't really have a menu system its just always in "pairing" until it finds a partner to communicate with. It would be nice if it had a menu display where I could select which phone in the vicinity I wanted to pair with. The remote that it comes with is a flat, chinsey, rectangle. I'm sure it will break soon.

Great CD player - Blue tooth connection for phone sucks ...
Great CD player - Blue tooth connection for phone sucks - too much interference , getting radio stations is hard but I might not understand how to tune them in but it sure seems like it does not receive everything no matter what mode it is in. I might give it a better rating if tuning in stations was more easy but it has been a real dissapointment to me

Great for the money but has quirks
Great for the money but has quirks. The clock function indicates that it can be displayed at all times. It can't. While it appears to be programmed for daylight savings, it fell back rather than forward for the spring change. Curious to see what will happen this fall. You can see the time by pushing the clock function button momentarily, but don't hold it too long it will go into programming mode. There is a reset button behind the face that you must push when you install it and whenever you lose battery. It does not just lose your presets but what it's own buttons are supposed to do. It starts behaving weird, but pushing the reset button clears up the behavior. Also some of the function buttons are fairly odd. As an example to move to the next forward or back station on the radio you push the forward or back button. Makes sense. When playing a disk or usb the button will move forward or backward with a quick press. OK. Pressing it twice moves 10 files, but to move to the next folder rather than pushing longer or three times you have to push the preset buttons 5 or 6. Weird. Plays well, but really needs to be grounded and the constant 12 volt (see above about resets). If either is not present it will lose it's "brain" every time you turn off the car. To make a good ground I had to splice the ground wire from the radio to the chassis of the car and to the chassis or the radio for it to hold the presets and button functions correctly. The USB works great, moving between files automatically or manually, once you get the hang of that, BUT I could not get it to read from a 32GB stick at all. 8GB sticks work fine. Must be a size limitation, but then you can get a lot of sound on 8GB. For the money, I would buy it again and can recommend it.
