BOLLYWOOD BLAST

I had tried for years to get motivated to work out.......I was the girl who would say I woke up to late, and than going to bed late would say I'm too tired...I hated " gym" workouts... hell playing a jillian michaels like dvd was like me dying, waiting for the time to tell me I was even 10 minutes in.I knew I loved to dance, but being the bitter person that I am ( sarcasmn) I couldn't take beautiful barbie julliane hough that chubby girl( me ) in her bedroom was doing a great job... so condescending don't you think....So I finally decided to try belly dancing... what could it hurt, I was along in my room, it couldn't be much worse than me NOT working out...I searched and found Hemalayaa on amazon, bought a video for s***** & giggles and found out WOW, this is awesome!!!!Hemalyaa is warm, genuine, inviting, NO FAKE BARBIES HERE!!!She taught me I can dance and enjoy myself and feel okay being clumsy at first while I learn!!!! Since this dvd I've bought all of them and have just been enthralled with Hemalyaa's spirit, making me feel I can go at my own pace and just feel the music instead of trying to be perfect at things ( like you feel with some dance dvds with professional dancers)She taught me workout people can be real, and I can be ok to go my own pace and learn and grow and I did, I CAN move my hips!

I have her entire Bollywood burn set and a abs DVD ( beautiful belly) this is a good change up but it's much lighter than her other ones. Not really my favorite ( Bollywood booty and beautiful belly) are favorites.

Lovely set, the instructor is engaging, cool music but so BORING. So incredibly repetitive and unimaginative it was unbearable. I got it at a low cost so I just threw it out.

With a title like Bollywood Dance Blast, you'd think this DVD would be ... well, more of a blast. First of all, Hemalayaa was all by herself, which I thought would be a plus since it would cut down on distractions. But her voice-overs were horrible. She actually faked shaking her voice to make it sound as if she were in the workout,. And while I was trying to adjust to this, she did it again. And again. Very hokey! The workouts were actually a lot better without Hemalayaa speaking (using the music only feature).There are two longer aerobic workouts that pretty much seem the same. The moves are repeated over and over. On the plus side, you will probably have no trouble learning the moves. On the negative side, you might get bored with the tedious redundancy.The best part of the DVD was the 5-minute extra bonus workout ... with the sound turned off. That way you won't have to hear about putting on your "beautiful, sexy, spiritual boots" and other silly nonsense.In this DVD, Hemalayaa isn't wearing what you see on the cover... anywhere. It was pretty disappointing. I don't think I would have bothered to purchase this if I had previewed it first. But at least it provides cardio workouts in a format that's a little more fun than some workouts out there.Hemalayaa is an enthusiastic instructor, but she really needs to work on how she presents and organizes her material. For more of a genuine Bollywood experience, get Hemalayaa: Bollywood Burn. That is more of a blast! Also, in Bollywood Burn Hemalayaa includes a cute Bollywood dance number in the blue costume she wears on the cover. It's great for getting the real deal Bollywood.

I'm no spring chicken, and bits of me had been getting more and more out of shape. This DVD has been great for feeling good about myself from the very start, even 10 days ago, when I couldn't even handle the whole 5-minute warm-up! Right now I'm up to about 10-15 minutes total time which I know is nothing for you younger bodies, but it feels so good to me, and it's paying off. My shape is getting back into shape better than I thought possible.Some here have mentioned that the moves are overly simple. To me they don't seem simple - I'm a bit of a klutz I guess. But I can tell I'm getting plenty of good exercise even though I'm not doing it perfectly. I get confused even doing the Queen's march! Despite my confusion, I feel encouraged to just keep moving. She's that good.***October edit to my original August review:***Once I got to the point where I could mostly keep up the pace on this DVD, I tried a couple of other exercise DVDs which had more intricate and challenging moves. I can now understand why some people find the Bollywood Dance Blast too simplistic for their workout.But I needed exactly what Hemalayaa offers here: plenty of movement and opportunity to get my heart rate up, but with moves that don't make me feel clumsy. I credit Hemalayaa with providing a perfect starter DVD. It's great to feel good about myself *while* I'm getting more fit and now even able to follow along gracefully.

I thought this was boring and I am not so coordinated. The moves were not as easy as I thought they would be and I just could not get the hang of it. I have the booty workout of hers and would defintly be more apt to do that one instead.

I was originally introduced to Hemalayaa via the Bollywood Burn Boxed set. My favorite one is the bun workout because I really like the hip oriented dance moves. I was hoping to find something similar in some of these other dance workouts and I was not disappointed.This workout is fun and silly and can be as intense or easy as you need depending on how much impact you do with the exercises. As someone really stressed, I loved the positive energy in this video and the out with the bad in with the good motif.

My review will not be helpful because we have not looked at it yet, but we enjoy some of the silly Bollywood movies with the energetic dance movements. We will try it soon.
