5.5 brilliant stars
Colleen Hoover is the queen of making me gut laugh, turn the page, and find my guts spilled all over the floor. Ok, maybe not literally, but the emotional evisceration of her characters so close on the heels of humor is like nothing I’ve read from any other author. No one makes me feel such opposing feelings at the same time like Colleen Hoover. She writes emotional situations with perfection. I found myself laughing out loud at the characters’ antics and on the next page I’d be on the brink of tears. Her writing is engaging and entertaining in a way that makes it difficult to put her books down once I’ve started reading. Ridge. I don’t even know what to say about him without revealing too much. He may be my favorite Colleen Hoover man yet. I liked him early on, while he and Sydney were only talking via text and hadn’t even stood in the same room. He has a character trait that I would never have guessed from the teasers or the blurb that is done so perfectly. It is treated with great sensitivity in that it doesn’t define him, though it does make for a few communication challenges with Sydney. It’s just a part of who he is. He is a musician, writing songs for his brother’s band while he works from home. Reading Sydney’s story for a while felt like I was on a wild ride. She’s happy, then she’s reeling, then she’s building things back together, then she’s reeling again. When she finds out her boyfriend has been cheating on her with her roommate, she is lost. Her independent streak, while admirable, in this case ends up getting her soaked. But while she is fiercely independent, she is also caring, Together, I wanted to root for them, but didn’t want them together at the same time. Sydney and Ridge are fighting a hard fought battle through the course of Maybe Someday. They are so perfect together. They can work together on music and fill in gaps where the other get stuck. They laugh, they protect, they connect. But so much about their situation just can’t work as they find it. And that hurt to read. At one point I made a note about doing what’s right hurting so much it feels wrong because they do fight it so hard. I kept asking myself why they would have to be fighting so hard when it would be easy to fix the major roadblock to their relationship, but when we learned why it wasn’t really an easy fix I was breaking all over again. There is so much symbolism in the connection between song, story, and senses. Having the soundtrack isn’t a requirement for reading the book. It’s not even a requirement for enjoying the book. But together the two make the experience more. More emotional. More conflicting. More honest. More. I hadn’t planned on buying the soundtrack while I read the book because I wanted to be able to talk about the book by itself, but knowing it was available and out there was too much temptation and I ended up buying it when I was halfway through the book. Going back to the scenes where Ridge and Sydney were actually writing and listening to the songs while re-reading changed the reading experience more than I anticipated. I should have known based on experiences with other books and being able to YouTube unfamiliar songs, but knowing Griffin’s album was written specifically for this book, and that the lyrics referenced in the story are the real lyrics in the songs made it a sensory experience. But I also refused to listen to each new song until I reached it’s reference in the book to keep the story a surprise, because the subtext in each song really does tie in with where Sydney and Ridge are and what they are feeling. To me, that was the best compromise between having the soundtrack as background music, and having the music give me spoilers, or even extra impetus to keep reading. Maybe Someday is maybe a book I would not have picked up if I knew more about the plot points. It has two plot aspects that normally turn me off to a book, or at least make me cringe while reading, but I never felt those negative feelings here. Not knowing those things before I fell in love with Ridge and Sydney in the chapter teaser that was released before I had the book in my hands, I was caught up in those two. This was not an easy book for me to keep reading in the first few chapters. But I am so glad I did. It was one of those stories where we needed those challenges for what these two find to mean everything. This will be one of my favorite books for the year, of that I’m sure. Thanks to Colleen Hoover and Atria for providing me with a galley copy for review.

Oh, isn't love a battlefield? (SPOILERS)
I have read this book twice. While it isn't my favorite Colleen Hoover book, it's still an entertaining read and I actually shed a little tear at one point! I absolutely love the songs provided with this eBook. The book is well written and the characters are well developed, as you probably guessed, since this IS a Colleen Hoover book. Sydney is such a lovable character, but she annoyed me a few times (It's the little things that drive me mad.) I liked Ridge, simply because he's a great guy—for the most part. Since he's an artist, he's very good with words. Though there is one thing that surprised me about Ridge—close to the beginning of the book, we find out Ridge is deaf! I don't know, I just thought that made this story even more interesting. A deaf musician? I think it's pretty awesome Colleen created a character like Ridge. Ridge is a very inspirational character, even with his flaws, because he's deaf but managed to develop such talent. There are also some things that bothered me about Ridge. He cheated on his long-time girlfriend, Maggy. It bothered me, because truly, I loved Maggy more than I loved Sydney. Maggy is just...she's...well, she's perfect. It was a kiss, but they knew what they were doing and they knew it was wrong. They knew they had feelings for each other, but kept doing what they were doing. Ridge didn't have to touch Sydney or kiss her to write music with her. Saying something, like, “I couldn't control myself,” is an overused, bullsh*t excuse. Ridge is the one that should have known better. Maggy is such an innocent little queen, and he just disrespects her like that. Sydney didn't have any kind of relationship with Maggy, so I didn't really get mad at her about the whole ordeal. She was weak with Ridge, but there aren't many single young women out there that wouldn't be weak with a guy like Ridge. I kind of felt bad for Sydney, because Ridge was so committed to Maggy, and was kind of leading Sydney on for a while... I thought it was dumb when Ridge said Maggy had half his heart, and Sydney had the other half. I mean, in the real world, who would stick around if the person they love said they love you, but love someone else the same? I'll tell you: NOT a person like Sydney. A damsel in distress is not Sydney. Sydney is a very smart girl, she's tough, and she does not tolerate cheaters. (In the beginning of the book, she catches her boyfriend cheating with her best friend. She punches them both in the face before immediately leaving. That's why she moves in with Ridge.) It just bothered me that Ridge didn't clarify, because it's pretty obvious that his love for Maggy is different from his love for Sydney. I like Ridge's character and his talent, but he's not the ideal boyfriend because of what he did to Maggy and Sydney. Trying to shuffle two girls around when one of them is your long-term girlfriend isn't okay. I know he wanted to pick, but if Maggy wouldn't have left on her own (If she didn't find out about Ridge and Sydney), I believe he'd still be trying to shuffle the two of them. He said he loved them both equally, so... But I don't know. That's the main problem I had with this book. Ridge didn't act maturely, so he ended up hurting two girls he cares about. He has a good heart, but he's not exactly...a rational thinker. He's human...but a MAN wouldn't beat around the bush with one girl, kissing and touching and showing he has feelings for her – while he's also doing those things plus some you-know-what with the girl he's in a committed relationship with. I did a note-to-self at the end of the book, because Ridge DID learn from his mistake, and as a result, he matured a bit by the end of the book. I'm glad Sydney and Ridge ended up together, because they do genuinely love each other, but I was left wondering about Maggy and I wanted to know if she was okay or if she found a new love herself. She deserved so much better than what was handed to her. If Maggy and Bridget switched places (the testy, and really rude roommate in the book) it'd be a lot easier for me to process the whole cheating thing. To put it short, treating such pure souls with disrespect could leave them bitter and paranoid someday. Delicate flowers are supposed to be handled DELICATELY, and if Maggy wasn't such a pure soul, the cheating thing would not bother me that much. I'm rating this book 4 stars, because I was so involved in it. I remember everything I read. It held my attention like nothing else, though I was annoyed with Ridge and sometimes Sydney at points throughout the book. I enjoyed the book, though I want Maggy to have a happy ending, too. PLEASE WRITE A BOOK FOR MAGGY, COLLEEN. SHE DESERVES ONE! Plus, there needs to be closure. I want Ridge and Sydney to be in her life as her friends eventually. I want Maggy to find her true someone, even if she's not going to have a long life. Please, Colleen. Give this amazing woman a happy ending!

Definitivamente recomendado!

Maybe Someday is an unputdownable masterpiece that will capture your heart from the very first chapter. Colleen Hoover's writing is absolutely captivating, and the characters are flawlessly crafted. It's a book that will leave you feeling all the emotions and thinking about it long after you've finished. The story follows the life of Sydney, a young woman who discovers that her boyfriend is cheating on her with her best friend. With nowhere to turn, she finds herself drawn to her mysterious neighbor, Ridge. Their connection is instantaneous and electric, and the chemistry between them practically leaps off the page. What I loved most about this book is the way that Hoover weaves together music and emotion. The songs that Ridge and Sydney write together are not just beautiful, but they also serve as a way for the characters to express their deepest thoughts and feelings. It's a unique and powerful approach to storytelling that sets this book apart. But what truly makes Maybe Someday a masterpiece is the characters. They are so flawlessly crafted and relatable that it's impossible not to become emotionally invested in their story. Sydney is a strong and resilient heroine who never gives up, even when things get tough. And Ridge is a complex and compelling hero who will steal your heart. Maybe Someday is a book that you won't be able to put down. It's a rollercoaster of emotions that will leave you laughing, crying, and swooning all at once.

Well maybe someday is breathtaking and even more than that. I feel haunted by it. I am french and i even go that far in my head that i thought oh my goshh i would have learn english just for that book if i had not speak it. Clearly it seems like this book took a part of my soul with it. I cried while reading it cause there is moments when you just feel torn with the personages and you just have to cry. I stayed up all night until 6 am i could not put it down. Ridge is so so much better that any character i have ever read. Maybe someday is the book i would never have wanted to pass, if i had to choose only one book i could read in my life it would be this one.
