Road House [Blu-ray]

This is a classic 80’s action movie, Swayze style. It’s got it all with great actors, awesome fight scenes, and an excellent story/plot. Can’t forget the music of the house band too, which happens to be performed by the legendary Jeff Healy Band. If you enjoy action movies then this is one that never gets old. Buy, rent or stream this movie now if you’ve never seen it or even if you’ve seen it dozens of times like me.

Note, this review is about the original Road House movie, the one with Patrick Swayze, Sam Elliott, and Red West (Elvis' close friend).I like that I can watch this movie over and over intermittently and it still makes me laugh. This is a complete sendup of macho, I'm totally cool, I-can-take-anything-you-can-hand-out movies. For verification of my analysis, witness the scene with Sam Elliott talking to Patrick Swayze on the phone, with his placid demeanor saying nonchalantly that he's got to go while two men are killing each other behind him.

Patrick Swayze at his best! Good storyline. Good band. Lots of action. The nuances of Dalton’s character comes to life through Patrick Swayze’s expert delivery. No remake of Road House even comes close to this outstanding original.

The set up was perfect. He's got a past and the rumors are still circulating. People in town want him gone. He probably would have left had they not gone too far. Once he's pissed he loses control. The rest of the movie is action, and fighting. There is some humor. Like all Swayze's movies, there's a lot of heart.

I like everything about the DVD

When comparing this movie to the recent remake, it shines in comparison. Originally this movie was a decent movie that I have seen a couple of times through the years. It was never on my "This is such a good movie" list.The remake is a soulless version of this movie. But that makes sense since they race and gender swap a few characters. Typically when that happens the writing tends to be sub par and this still holds true.Original 4 stars, remake 2.

Swayze's character, armed with his black belt and a Ph.D., raises important questions, such as "To be or not to be... thrown out of a window?" Road House is the kind of movie where logic takes a backseat, and the laws of physics are more like suggestions.

Patrick Swayze has another great movie. Exciting from beginning to end. If you are Patrick Swayze fan ,you'll love this one too.

This is one of the best movies ever made but to have it in 4K is just totally awesome now. Best movie by far the new Roadhouse looks to copy but a very weak effort. This movie will be around and enjoyed immensely now

This isn't a review of the film, we all know it's a classic, but just the product itself, in this case being the Limited Edition Blu-Ray 3D Lenticular Hardcase + Art Cards.It's everything it claims to be, a sturdy outer box with a 3D image on the front of Swayze, inside is the blu-ray in a standard case, and the art-cards, which come in a card envelope with Road House emblazoned across it, the cards are nothing special but nice to have. Now for the most important bit, how does the film look and sound, my setup is just a TV with a sound bar, and on this it sounds fine. It looks good too, for a film now 35 years old, the colours are nice and bright, and the overall quality is nice and sharp. The special features run for a couple of hours, and give you some nice insights. It is somewhat expensive, but if you want the film on blu ray, you are limited for choice. It is a classic 80's action film, and if you love the film then it's worth it.
