An Englishman Abroad
I first became aware of Adam Davies' work through a television programme I watched with my mother; little did I know that, within a few months, we would be introduced through a mutual friend, and that I would be asked by him, personally, to edit and proof his new book "Manbeasts: A Personal Investigation".One may ask why I should write a review of a book that I am, quite honestly, already completely familiar with; I read Adam's original manuscript again, again, and again, and corresponded with Adam frequently (daily, if not hourly!) as he worked to complete the book in time for its autumn 2014 publication. Through this process, I was able to fully appreciate Adam's work, his dedication, and his passionate advocacy of cryptozoological research and investigation, in particular the identification, classification and ultimate protection of the orang-pendek of Sumatra.By the end of it, when the book had finally gone off to CFZ Publishing and the good offices of Mr Jonathan Downes, I had come to know Adam Davies not only as one of the world's foremost cryptozoologists, but as a close, personal friend.Adam's book is refreshingly different from others I have read on this topic; it is Adam's own voice. Adam writes as he speaks, and to read his own words, on paper, is to hear his voice, speaking, clearly and directly, as if he were standing before you. This is Adam Davies, up close and personal, direct and honest; he is engaging, forthright, funny and reflective. Not all stories have a happy ending; a cryptozoologist must be prepared for any number of disappointments, in the field, and in the laboratory.Adam is not to be dissuaded, however; he doesn't give up (actually, he never gives up!), and despite the Herculean scale of his treks, one must remember the man behind the stories, the reality of Adam Davies, intrepid, hardy, and brave. This is Adam Davies' book; I am proud of have been associated with it, and with him.Buy it, read it, and then read it again; you will learn a great deal, not just about the orang-pendek, the yeti, or any number of other global cryptids...you will also learn...about Adam.Cheers,Sanjay

“You don’t come to the Bigfoot; Bigfoot comes to you”
“You don’t come to the Bigfoot; Bigfoot comes to you”This idea is what an official Ranger told Adam in a Seattle, Washington camping shop in 2012. That concept needs to be pondered by anyone that is into this subject. Whether it be Researchers, Cryptozoologists, Crypto Enthusiasts, or any combination of these, a person must step back and take this mantra to heart. You will not just walk out in the woods and find any Cryptid. Adam has a LOVE for the outdoors, hiking, camping, and just being one with nature in the deepest of jungles at times. The result of Adam and his team’s expeditions is that they put themselves in a position to be able to witness history or at least to progress historical research. No one can deny that. This book tells more of Adam’s adventures to that end.The most impressive thoughts within Adam’s two books are the methodical way he approaches Deciding What the Focus is, Organizing a Dedicated Group for an Expedition, Planning and Raising Funds, and then Executing the Plan. This book was as enjoyable, if not more so, as his first book “Extreme Expeditions”. What is great is that there are also behind the scenes discussions of filming of some of the expeditions with such shows as “Monster Quest”.Adam also tells of some of his most enjoyable and trying times of his life as he came to America in 2012 and beyond. There is even an account of a secret Bigfoot Investigation with Dr. Bryan Sykes in 2013 and an ongoing Orang-Pendek Project with Cliff Barackman. I thoroughly enjoyed Adam’s adventures and look forward to hearing more of them in the future.Don’t search for the Third Book, like Bigfoot, it might just COME TO YOU!!!I can’t wait.Bryan Impey(Monsters, Mysteries, and Mayhem)

Manbeasts
Manbeasts is Adam Davies personal account of his adventures around the world looking for hominid criptids as a self-subsidized modern day cryptidzoology hunter by vacation and British civil servant by vocation. Davies is a bit of a celebrity in the cryptozoology world even though he is not a scientist. He has appeared on Finding Bigfoot (Sumatra show/s) and Monster Quest as well as authoring a previous book about his adventures looking for non-hominid cryptids.Manbeasts is a short Kindle book, which has a lot of white space and the pictures are as small as some postage stamps. However, the stories of his cryptid adventures are generally interesting though light in detail. I like the outdoorsy adventure genre, plus Dr. Jeff Meldrum wrote an introduction for Manbeasts, so I purchased this Kindle book. This version of Manbeasts is just OK in my opinion. The book price was discounted, which helped me make up my mind to purchase it. This version reads like a diary the author hammered out on his computer in rapid fire but it would be considerably much better if the author added a lot more detail about his trips, more useful information such as maps he used, much larger photographs, and finally kept on topic by editing out his Seattle area love life with a habituator. Davies claims to have solid, physical evidence and information to prove that the Orang Pendak is real and the information he has has been scientifically and professionally verified. He should use that to really build a more dramatic and substantial book which will be worth the original price at least.

A valuable thought process of intrigue and adventure
An enticing and fascinating insight to the possibility of the existence of unknown species. The writer gives a thorough analysis into the positives and problems that one has to endure when researching unknown species and their habitat and behavior patterns. It also has a lighter side in amusing incidents that occur, and converse the sometime dangerous conditions that arise when trekking thorough difficult terrain.A thorough good read and recommend to those who enjoy first hand knowledge of what could be hidden in various parts of the world.

Finding Bigfoot or Bigfoot found? Well... it sounds like he got real close!
Adam is a rare breed indeed. No one in the world has gone to the level that this man has in quests to personally solve some of the worlds cryptid mysteries. This book targets his adventures for upright hominids around the world... travelling the globe to far off places like the peaks in the Himalayas in search of the yeti through to rain forests of the Pacific North West of America looking for Bigfoot and even a trip to a rural forest in northern England. We have seen Adam on programmes such as Monsterquest, but you don't get to know the real man who stands in front of the camera... this book helps us get behind the mindset of this true adventurer... and, might I add, it was a real pleasure to read! It comes with some comedy moments, some interesting research techniques and some ideas about how these creatures have remained undetected. Once I started reading, I could not put the book down.... his style of writing keeps the reader locked into the storyline of his personal exploits. Adam is a true ambassador to the scientific approach in searching for these illusive creatures and indeed, upon reaching chapter 10, it became a real shock as to his involvement with Professor Brian Sykes in America. This book gave a very different background history behind the worlds most comprehensive DNA study into the existence of these cryptid hominids. This subject matter is not going to go away.... Adam's book has, through his personal experiences, shed some light upon the existence (and behaviour) of some of these creatures... you can either believe his word here... or discount his experiences.. but it would be wise to read the book first before coming to any conclusions....

An interesting, entertaining read.
I have followed all of Adams documentaries which I have thoroughly enjoyed, as I find him very engaging with a deep knowledge, and passion on this subject. I really enjoyed this book. I found his encounters with the North American Bigfoot fascinating. But I most enjoyed the personal touch he has given to this book, with an honest viewpoint. This is a must read for followers of Bigfoot, or for people who are merely curious about Bigfoot.

Man beasts review!!!
Love this book!! A must for all adventure cryptic enthusiasts and Bigfoot fans!!! Adam gives a fantastic account of his adventures and encounters from all over the world and brings you into the excitement of getting so close to these beasts! Perhaps the most up to date, unbiased and superb account on obtaining evidence of these "bug fellas". Brings you into the world of Evidence gathering and the obvious joys of the experiences and friendships forged on the way! A fantastic read and well recommended.
