Exceeded my expectations!
I purchased the MXL V67 based on user reviews I read on Amazon. I am grateful for the recommendation of others, and I will add my own recommendation for this impressive microphone offered at a very reasonable price. I use the microphone for making recordings for marketing presentations, VoIP telephony voice prompts, voice-overs, live presentations conducted via Webinars, and also for some hobbyist applications including amateur radio and music production. The microphone is so much better than dynamic microphones I was using previously. I also had a chance to compare this microphone to a couple of other condenser microphones, and this sounded as good as one, and better than the other. Subjective? Yes, but the other two people with me also agreed. BTW, both of those other microphones cost at least twice as much as I paid for this one (purchased from Amazon) As has been noted by other reviewers, this microphone has a very wide pickup pattern. It can hear the computer fan on the other side of the room, and another one at about a 50-degree angle. I do have to pay close attention to the ambient noise - but that's a problem with my environment, not with the microphone. I had expected signals from the side to be attenuated more, but that hasn't been my experience (possible reflections, but I don't think so, since acoustic dampening material didn't seem to make any difference.) I keep the microphone mounted in a shock mount, and have it wrapped in a plastic bag (hole in Ziploc bag with rubber-band securing it to mic body, Ziploc opening sealed hanging over end of microphone (mounted upside-down) to keep dust out of the mic - and found that it still picks up sound well, so for casual recording or when using it for webinars or voice communication, I just keep it enclosed in the bag. When I'm creating something for production, I open the Ziploc seal on the bag and roll up onto the microphone body to expose the microphone screen. This has worked well and keeps the microphone clean, and ready to use at any moment. This microphone has exceeded my expectations for its clarity and responsiveness. I am pleased to recommend the XML V67 (G) to you.

Great Warm Mic for Low Price!
I originally came upon this mic when I first started recording a couple of years ago. I enjoyed the warm tone and authenticity that this mic brought to the recording. I used it for my first live recording gig and it performed well considering my rig was pretty awful at the time. I just purchased this mic because I started to do more studio recordings and I needed an inexpensive Large diaphragm condenser that sounded warm and was a good all around mic. I used the MXL V67G for female vocals, male vocals, acoustic guitar, and aux percussion so far and with each instrument I have been very pleased by the performance and the quality. The proximity to the mic provides good tone close and far away with relatively low noise. The hard plastic shock mount that comes with it is of not much use so I would recommend purchasing the MXL 57 shock mount as well. The construction of the mic seems solid and I have had no issues with it. The mic does seem to have a slight break in period but it is very short and the 'newness' wears off to give you that great mellow tube/warm tone. Before I purchased it, I read some reviews where people had trouble with it out of the box not working. The only thing I can think of is that they didn't put on the phantom power because this mic needs to be powered to work. I look forward to trying this with drum overheads, acoustic pianos and possibly scream vocals. All in all, this is a great all around mic and it will enhance your rig. It is surprisingly cheap for how good it sounds, the response is great, it gives true tone of the instrument and it can be used for many different instruments. You won't be disappointed!

Fantastic mic for V.O. work!
I use this microphone for professional voice over narration, and it performs just as well as more expensive mics. I have had no issues with it, whether recording character voices or audio book narration. While this isn't likely to be the go-to mic for a studio, it wouldn't be out of place there either, and will serve wonderfully for a home studio environment. It is a sensitive cardioid patterned microphone, so if there are large sources of background noise (furnace, fans, T.V., etc...) in a nearby room, it WILL be picked up in your recording. The V67G has a clear, rich tone, and requires little to no EQ for my voice. When getting up close, the proximity effect adds a great depth to the voice without distorting the tone, and without needing too large of a reduction on the gain. Overall, this microphone is well worth the money and then some! The MXL V67G is a condenser microphone, and requires an XLR cable hookup and a phantom power supply. Getting a good interface is just as important as having a good microphone, so be sure to research the interface that will work best for you. I would recommend a Focusrite Scarlet series interface to start with, but do your own research to find what will work best for your use.

Good quality, single-point stereo microphone
I purchased this MXL V67Q stereo microphone to record ambient sound for a film project I'm working on. It was a bit of a risk, as the MXL V67Q is designed to be used in a studio environment, and my film takes place in the Florida outdoors. I was able to modify my Rode blimp to accept the V67Q without much trouble, and mount the assembly on a sturdy tripod stand. I ran the xlr cable into a Soundcraft Notepad mixer and then into a Zoom H1 to record the sounds. The results were quite good, as the microphone has very little self-noise, and I made wonderful recordings of birds, insects, and other natural sounds. The V67Q did prove sensitive to humidity when I would use it outside of the blimp, but the microphone was fine after being returned to an air-conditioned environment for a few hours. This is also a very good vocal microphone. I was testing different microphones on my wife's voice for a voice-over project, trying to find if she sounded better on the Rode NT-1A or the AT2020. I threw the V67Q into the mix, just to see how her voice sounded through it. After listening to all three recordings, we both agreed that the V67Q sounded the best. It had a pleasing warmth the others lacked. Obviously, the results from a sub $200 microphone will not compare to the top end microphones, but the V67Q provides a very good quality at a very good price. And for my film project, the results were more than satisfactory.

AMAZING STEREO MICROPHONE
I was really skeptical about this mic but for the price I had to give it a try. It arrived in brand new condition and right on time. It is very pretty, the green and gold colors always attract attention from females that visit our studio. WHAT'S IT SOUND LIKE? Looks are somewhat important but what really matters is the sound, what does it sound like? This mic sounds amazing. I hooked it into two channels of a Grace m801 mic preamp. At over $500/preamp the Grace is definitely high-end equipment. I listened to the output of the mic preamp using a set of Audio Technica M-50 headphones. The sound from this mic is very 3D. The mic creates this dimensional space that will have you turning your head around to see where noises are coming from. On acoustic guitar it provides an amazing depth, the better the instrument, the better the sound, the mic does an extraordinary job picking it up. We use it for recording exclusively and it is living on a stand for day in, day out recording tasks. For point of reference, we have many high-end mics by AKG, Neumann and Royer too. There are two things that are really outstanding about this mic. One is the fantastic 3D sound when used for stereo pickup, it's just so easy to mount and use since everything is all inside this one mic body. The sound is huge, full and REAL! The other just amazing thing is the price, WOW, it's hard to believe you can get this much mic for this low price. I had been looking at stereo mics that cost three or four times as much and don't offer better recorded sound. I'd give this one six stars if I could, it's great!

Awesome Mic for a Great Price
I'm pretty new to using mics and PA systems but have used dynamic mics in the past, recreationally. This condenser mic is way larger and heavier than a dynamic mic, I was surprised when I took it out of the box. It is as good looking in person as in the pictures. Three things for the benefit of other newbs: 1.) I learned that condenser mics are very susceptible to moisture and so you have to purchase a windscreen if you're going to use this for vocals, since moisture from singing into the mic can damage it. 2.) This has a cardioid pickup pattern; you don't sing directly into the end of the mic like a dynamic mic. This should stand straight up on a mic stand, paying attention to which way the mic is facing since it there will be a lot of attenuation on one side of it. 3.) It requires phantom power. You need a PA that provides 48V power to use it. When I first used this mic, I tried singing into the end of it and couldn't hear myself very well. Later in the evening I was standing off to the side and could hear myself so loud that I had to back away about a foot from the mic. Then I remembered reading about the cardioid pattern and stood it up straight on the mic stand, paying attention to the orientation of the mic. It was so sensitive that I really had to stay backed up from the mic and it was easy for two or three people to stand around it for vocals. I have a Rainsong WS1100 acoustic electric guitar I was playing, and was able to turn off my amp completely because this mic picked up the instrument and my vocals so clearly. Other musicians were impressed by it as well. I payed just under a $100 for it, which I think is a great value for this product.

WOW!
As usual I was a littlel leary about the kudo's this mike was givin' .. I have 4 mid priced mikes.. they are very good but for some reason, routed in physics that i probably couldn't understand, having 2 condensers in very close proximity is great for the 2 amps that did have 2 separate mikes. as novel as it, it has rendered a very positive effect.. I have it on an 8 inch stand in the middle of the two amps with the amps tilted in.each one different. It provides a spacious sound for lack of a better term or you can pan them as if they were 2 mike.. undoubtedly there will be a little sound from the opposite amp so when you pan your not going to get perfect isolated sound but I never did anyways. The fidelity is very good and takes to the sound pressure well, although I don't crank the amps up.I crank em up on my DP-32... there in a separate room but the sound is fairly transparent and rich and the effect of the two condensers side by side is unique. I read where some reviewers had to crank up the gain but in my case because they are only about 1 foot from the amps, about 12 o'clock works for me. I also bought the shock mount.. not using the mike without a shock mount I cant address because I just slid in the mike and went from there. If I have one complaint which is probably only germane to me, I wish the dual cords were a bit longer but no biggy. I make sound tracks for amateur videographers and I'm able to soundstage the signal! I never did like anything else for recording guitars and always used the condensers.. but they couldn't take a whole lot of single before they got overloaded, not so with this mike.. I'm sure I could overload it but no need to crank up the amps.. GET THIS MIKE.. for short money and BIG results. Looking forward to using this (these) mikes for my tri-cone...

Impressive
I had been doing research on this mic, I owned a MXL 990 at one time and it's a good mic, and I now own another mic that is much more expensive. However I was looking for a back up mic and saw the reviews and heard the videos and decided to check it out. The MXL V67G Large Capsule Condenser Microphone surprised me as it has been performing way better than anticipated especially for the price. It has surpassed my expectations, for my voice it gives me a deeper richer tone which you normally get from a more expensive mic. With this mic I use less processing. It has a very nice warm tone, I guess you could say I'm shocked considering the price compared to the quality of the recordings I've been doing. MXL did good on this one, most mics in this price range are thin and tinny sounding not so with the MXL V67G Large Capsule Condenser Microphone. For my voice it does Great and it looks Great too.So if your on a tight budget give this mic a chance, there's no other mic out there at this price that can match it's performance hands down. It actually is competitive with my other that is 10 times the price.Needless to say I'm impressed. Check it out and be your own judge.5 Stars.
