Skeletons: Scary or Beautiful?
This boxed set contains two books: Radiologists. At Work, and Talking to Skeletons. The first book, Radiologists at Work, is a compilation of radiology anecdotes from many different doctors, spanning a long history of radiology. They discuss the technology of the field, and how it has changed over the years. Author, Carolyn Jourdan pulls it all together into a cohesive treatise. Some of the stories are hair-raising, revealing ways that errors can be made, and the fear that seems pervasive among these diagnostic doctors: that they may miss something, or make a wrong diagnosis. The book provides lots of interesting information about the field of study and how the progression of technology has changed it.The companion book, Talking to Skeletons, is all Jourdan. Engaging and thought provoking, her prose is often like poetry in motion as she describes her behind-the-scenes experiences while shadowing a Radiologists over a fifteen year span. This is a personal story, introspective and often spiritual. Jourdan carries the reader along with her descriptive imagery. A lovely addition to the first book.

Short, fun, and fascinating.
This is short read, but fun. I recommend it to anyone, but especially anybody that works in healthcare, but doesn't or can't spend much time around the radiology folks. A radiologist one time told me his job was the best job in the world, and went on at length, enthusiastically, explaining why this was so. Personally, I think I have the best job in the world, but his enthusiasm wasn't lost on me. I'll head to med school if my present job ever loses it's luster.

Anyone who has loved Heart in the Right Place and Medicine Men will ...
Ms.Jourdan returns to her forte: rural medicine in East Tennessee. As always, the anecdotes are insightful not only into the practice of medicine, but into the human heart. Anyone who has loved Heart in the Right Place and Medicine Men will love the story of radiologists at work in the poorer areas of East Tennessee. With love and accuracy, Ms. Jourdan captures the hearts and souls of the doctors willing to care for the poor in areas overlooked by "Big Pharma" and "Corporate Medicine." You will laugh, you will smile, and you will want to read more.

Hiding behind your xrays ....
I love these stories about what goes on behind the scenes when you get an x-ray or any medical imaging. I enjoyed getting to โmeetโ some of the doctors who usually work back where you canโt see them. In a 'past life' I was a medical and surgical representative and spent a lot of time in hospitals demonstrating my equipment and seeing some of these events firsthand. I think Ms Jourdan has made a fine contribution to record the stories of these radiologists. The small companion book is very touching. Both books are full of great information.

At Her Best
If you are a fan of Jourdan's earlier work Medicine Men you are in for a real treat. Once again Carolyn Jourdan takes us behind the scenes into places we might not even know we're places! Who knew the connection between WEll bomber pilots and radiologists? She writes with heart and humour providing her readers a great story and more than a few tidbits to keep you dinner partners entertained. These books are informative and fun. Enjoy

Carolyn Jourdan is a wonderful storyteller. These two books tell about radiologists who mainly read images behind the scenes, rarely interacting with patients. Much of the writing uses the doctors' own words from the interviews with Jourdan. Descriptions of how the technology has advanced over the last 40 years take me back to my own experiences. What I enjoyed most was what the doctors revealed about their inner lives - their feelings about their work.
