FANTASTIC COLLECTION!
I have to say that is collection encompasses all the great Motown music. The packaging is very inventive. A miniature version of the Motown Studio in Detroit. I know that I probably have other sets with these songs but then there are songs that I do not already own, so it fills those gaps in my collection. The sound quality is good, I have no complaints. If you are a fan of the 60s and Motown in particular, you will LOVE this collection.

11 CDs of Number 1s from Motown; weird shaped box may delight or annoy
This is a box set of 11 CDs (five 2-CD folders and a separate "bonus" CD in a cardboard sleeve). These are all the Number 1 songs from the Motown years, collected in one place. This is an expensive box set for 11 CDs, and the value will be up to the individual person to assess. Practically everything on these CDs is available in other collections, so there's nothing unique here. The box that the set comes in is odd-shaped and won't fit well with other CDs in shelves; the set of CD folders are in a box with a fancy slipcover with a roof on top, supposedly looking like a duplex in Motown, and that box ships in a plastic rectangular slip cover to protect everything. The box (with or without the plastic slipcase) doesn't fit well on my CD shelves, which is a bit annoying.The tracks do not sound remastered in any way, compared to LPs and 45s in my collection, although the engineering is general solid.The music covers a wide range of years, from the early 1960s through the early 1990s. There's a heavily illustrated booklet that comes in the box, with some nice photos and track listings, although not much about the tracks or artists themselves in many cases. The CDs are in chronological order, so you can pick and choose the years you want to listen to.I've been through the entire set, and it's a good collection of the hits of each year. Having said that, as mentioned I have two gripes: the weird shaped box is a pain to store, and this is a relatively expensive box set for 11 CDs in a market swamped with "Best Of" collections. Still, I'm glad to have it in my library.

If you like Motown it’s a must have
The set is good, great packaging, great sound. Maybe a bit heavy on some artists and a bit pricy but good overall coverage of Motown sound. I love the picture of the real 45 under the disc. Like a surprise under each disk and appreciate the photo album
