Love this pan!
I, too, thought it seemed thin and flimsy when I first got the pan, but after using it a few times I absolutely love it. I do use it for baking cakes and storing them in the pan using the lid. Cakes bake up perfectly in the pan. The cake plus frosting stay moist and don't dry out when keeping the lid on during storage. It's easy to get the lid on and off once you figure out how to do it. The lid has one end that is used to open it and the other end has to hook onto one end of the pan. It doesn't just pry off any which way. I don't bake cakes often, but they keep for days perfectly in this pan with the lid! I suppose this pan would dent if I threw it around and dropped metal tools on it, but that hasn't happened and it has not been dented, so far. I guess it has scratches on it, but metal pans do scratch over time. But the scratches are minor and cosmetic only and don't impair the function of the pan. I haven't washed it in the dishwasher; I wash it by hand, which is how I wash all my baking pans and trays. It probably also depends on what kind of dishwasher detergent is used, as some detergents are more corrosive to metal than others. I avoid products with citric acid as I have vintage silverware and citric acid is hard on silverware. I have not used it to bake a casserole in and I imagine that some foods might become stuck on, but that is the nature of the metal without some kind of non-stick coating. I don't want non-stick coating, so I don't bake something that is going to get all blackened and baked on. If that happened, I would soak it and use something like BarKeepers Friend. Over time, aluminum can lose its shine due to use but that is normal wear and tear. We really love this pan!

Great size, but sharp edges
I love the size and depth of this baking pan. It holds a double sized casserole, and the lid keeps it from going dry in the refrigerator. But the edges are sharp. You have to be careful when opening and closing it.

The lid is essential.
I love that this dish comes with a lid that stays on and will last. I’ve been using these to make freezer meals. Once frozen I’ll pop the whole container in a 2 gallon ziplock to try to prevent any freezer burn. From frozen, minus baggie, I put it in the oven with the lid on. Any leftovers I put in the fridge using the lid as well. It saves me from having to use a lot of aluminum foil! Plus, the dish travels so well. To clean, I soak the dish if necessary and use a plastic scraper afterwards. They clean up great! I have friends who have had these dishes for decades. Update 1/14/21: I continue to love this baking dish and have bought more. I have at least 4 now. I had 2 Correlle 9x13 baking dishes for almost 20 years. I gave them away. These are much lighter and so they are easier to grab quickly. They also nest well and stack easily. Plus, the lid is a one piece lid so there aren’t any parts to fiddle with like with my old Correlle lid that was plastic and had 3 parts to it. The edges of this aluminum lid can be considered sharp but I’ve never cut my hand on them. I’ll rub against it to remind me to be kind of careful but I’m certainly not concerned with hurting myself. This review is for the Nordic Ware 9x13 baking pan with a pop-on lid. It does not have a slide-on lid. I thought I’d prefer the slide on lid as it doesn’t have a tab sticking out on one side so it would be little space saving in the freezer. But I like this lid better because when I’m using it for food storage, not necessarily for baking, I can pile more food in there, like pancakes or cookies.

Perfect Cake Pan
I like the aluminum pans. It is worth spending more for a good pan. They bake & clean easy.

Nice pan. Not nice lid
It is a good quality aluminum cake pan. Heavy duty enough to do the job. It is not nonstick - a plus, and one reason I chose it. I was warned through other reviews that the edges of the lid are sharp. They weren't exaggerating. There is not one rolled edge on the lid. The lid doesn't slide on like your Nana's old pan. It kind of pops on. It is tricky prying it off while not slicing your finger tips. Yikes 😬. (Might have to use those cutting gloves I use with the mandolin.) Note also that the lid is for storage only. It should not go into the oven. Final note: This was shipped to me in a plastic bag inside a plastic bag mailer. Luckily it wasn't damaged since I need it for holiday baking this week.

Desde que lo vi, me pareció perfecto. El material es muy resistente y la tapa embona perfectamente, al hornear no se le ha pegado nada. Lo compraría de nuevo.

This came in perfect shape. Looks brand new, which it should because it is sold as brand new! It is very very lightweight. I noticed some complained about sharp edges. I expect them to be very sharp, but they're not. Just use a cloth or sponge when washing the lid corners so that you don't get cut. So far in handling it, taking the lid on and off, it hasn't felt sharp, but I just got it today, so haven't washed it yet. It is very light. Almost as light as those disposable aluminum foil pans, but it's definitely more sturdy than those. Hopefully it lives up to its name and lasts as long as everyone else's has.

I like the two piece thing, but the pan and lid are quite thin. Also, after the first use some dark spots appeared on the surface of the pan, and this is given the fact that no food actually came in contact with the pan as it was wrapped in a baking bag (no acidic foods were baked).
