Great Tracker - IF You Get One That Works
***UPDATE 2/17/2014 rating changed from 3 to 5 stars***After exercising a little patience and receiving some excellent customer support I have two tracking units that function as they should.The short version: On Wed Feb 5th I received a unit that wouldn't activate. After several support calls back and forth I received a replacement on Thurs Feb 13th. The new unit activated in less than 10 minutes. It was frustrating at first but now I have the tracker up and working. So far I love it! I will post an update after using it for a while.The long version [SEE ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW]In the end I am a very happy customer. Pet Tracker overnighted me a replacement unit. I was able to get it to activate in less than 10 minutes. I received two follow-up calls making sure everything was working okay.PROS:Peace of mind.Sends me a text when my dogs are out of their area.I can have the unit do a one-time locate.I can have the unit track, which will show me the direction the dogs are headed.Unit automatically goes into power-saving mode when at home near the charging unit.I get a text alert when the unit needs to be charged. I get another when the unit is fully charged.I get a text alert when my dog gets so spazzy that the unit is a little lose on his collar.Good size. Small and sleek.Technical support is readily available and hold times are terribly long.CONS:Frustrating to get unit activated if it doesn't initially work.Would be nice to have a smaller zone. I have a small yard and fast Siberian Huskies.The sleeve that is included to provide some weatherproofing doesn't fit over the clasp on clunky collars.***THE REVIEW BELOW WAS WRITTEN 2/11/2014****THE GOOD:In the past week I have ordered two Pet Trackers. Pet Tracker #2 is wonderful. It took me only 10 minutes to get set up. I tested it all weekend on my dog. The GPS accuracy is great. I have Siberian Huskies. The size of the tracker is no big deal to them. I have used the website application, the iPhone app and the text message alerts. The activity tracking is a fun feature. It gives me an idea of how lazy my dogs are during the day when I am not home. They all work very well. We have a small yard so it would be nice if it were possible to set up a smaller zone. Other than that, I would highly recommend this tracker....Except For My Experience with Tracker #1...THE REALLY BAD:02/05/2014 - I received Pet Tracker #1. I attempted to activate multiple times. After initializing the activation it takes about 2 hours to find out that it failed. Trying multiple times takes all day! I found directions in the support forum and followed those just to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong. Still no success.02/06/2014 - I called technical support. I followed their instructions for activating (which was exactly what I had already done). They said they would escalate to their trouble-shooting department.02/06/2014 - I ordered Pet Tracker #2 from Amazon.02/07/2014 - Received Pet Tracker #2. It took me 10 minutes to get it all set up and activated. It was very easy. So, I called tech support and spoke to James and explained that I had no problem activating Pet Tracker #2. I assumed that Pet Tracker #1 was defective. I was told I would just have to wait for their trouble-shooting process to check into it.02/10/2014 - I heard back from technical support on Pet Tracker #1. They said something about the cell signal not working. They gave me directions on how to turn everything off, let it sit for a while, plug it all in (in a certain order) and try to activate again. I asked what I should do if it still doesn't work. They told me to call back. I tried to activate two times. It didn't work.02/11/2014 - I called tech support back and spoke to James. I told him I am having problems activating and my problem is already documented in their system. Before even looking up my account James had me unplug the docking station and start the activation steps again. I explained that I already spoke with the "escalated" tech support yesterday and tried this and it didn't work. He still had me try to activate. He verified with me that the docking station is plugged into a wall socket, not a power strip, and near a window. He then asked what my house was constructed of. I told him stucco and aluminum siding. He said that might be the problem. I explained that I had another Pet Tracker that I was able to activate just fine. He said it was like having a cell phone that worked, then getting a new cell phone and having it not work as well. I said no, it was like my husband and I both having the exact same cell phone and they should both work exactly the same. Incidentally, we have Verizon cell phones and we don't have any problem in my house. The Pet Trackers work on the Verizon network. It should all work the same. Anyway, I moved the docking station to a plug right next to a door and stuck the docking station outside. It still didn't activate. James said he would have to escalate to their trouble-shooting department. I said that we had already done that. He said it had to be done again. I asked how long until I hear back. He said up to 72 hours. Unbelievable! I wonder how many times I will have to go through the escalation process.02/12/2014: I received a call from technical support. They had me do a few different steps to try to activate. I gained a better understanding of the entire process. When the tracking unit doesn't activate the problem probably lies within a setting on the cell provider's end of the process. Pet Tracker has to contact the cell company. The cell company has to track the problem and then report back to Pet Tracker. Then Pet Tracker contacts the customer and has them try to activate. This can take up to 72 hours depending on the turn-around time of the cell company.If the cell company troubleshoots from their end and tells Pet Tracker there isn't a problem then Pet Tracker knows the unit is defective. In my case, the cell company kept saying there was a problem with something in the cell setup. They would supposedly fix it but I still could not activate. That is the reason Pet Tracker kept having me try the activation steps.

Absolute piece of junk with terrible support. I have tried four units so far. Initial unit was defective.
After receiving the product it took four hours for the initial charge.Then I put it on my dog and let him go outside. When he left my yard it started reporting him a mile and a half to the North when in reality he was a few hundred yards to the South.I tried to chat with tech support who had several BS excuses then was told I would have to call for any help. I called tech support and spent about an hour on the phone with them. The first 10 minutes + was hold time. Then it takes 6 minutes + each time they want you to reset the device. They place you on hold while you wait 6 minutes. After the first reset it was still reporting over 600' off of the actual location.I fully charged the Tagg again and placed it on my dog last night. This afternoon it was 70% discharged. I tried to chat with tech support and once again they said the only way I could get help would be to call in. I called in and was told the wait would be at least 10 minutes so I asked the chat support agent if they could have someone call me. He said he would but no one ever called.This evening we brought our dog in and let the Tagg charge for two hours. We placed it back on our dog, verified it was working and let our dog out. Within five minutes of him going out the Tagg emailed that it had turned itself off. We had to call him back and turn it back on.Other than the issues we are having that hopefully are related to a defective unit I see the following serious design flaws;1. The battery discharges after as little as 20 locate requests. Mine discharged 4 out of 7 bars after 9 locate requests.2. The unit does not provide location data when it is within 400' of the docking station.3. The unit only provides location data when a locate request is made, you can not use it track where your pet is going or where he has been.4. There is a trail function in the Web interface, it is hard to find and only has data from your locate requests.5. I can not find any type of extended battery, which would be a simple and practical option.6. There is no way to change the battery.7. You can not use multiple base stations.8. Phone tech support is closed 15 hours a day.9. Email tech support takes 24 hours to respond.10. If you need emergency support your Tagg might run down before you receive a response.11. The Android app is very slow to update. After you click locate it gives you a ding notice of the new location but the old location continues to show in the map view12. The docking station contains a battery that takes 6+ minutes to run down. That is why you have to wait 6+ minutes to reset or test it. I see no benefit to this battery only hassle.13. The unit does not really provide a GPS tracking service. It simply tells you the dog is home when it is within range of the base station and then gives very limited GPS data once it is out of range.14. There is no API to access location data and the official apps are extremely limited.15. The accuracy of the units is not sufficient to locate them when detached from your pet.16. The coloring of the unit is not helpful when attempting to located in wooded areas.17. Battery life updates do occur frequently or smoothly. The tracking website and apps often report inaccurate battery level data.I live in an area that is well served by Verizon 3G service so that is not a valid excuse for Tagg. They made lots of excuses about the quality of Bing maps but I do not see how that could be relevant. Interestingly the Web and Android versions use different satellite imagery.Due to the short battery life and long charge time the only way I can see using Tagg would be to have two units and swap them out daily.Tagg replaced our first unit after it turned itself on and off several times.My initial order and the replacement were both "white" versions of the tracker.The replacement unit may have had slightly longer battery life.I attached the second unit to my dogs harness above his shoulder. I did not think it was an area he could reach. However the tag began detaching. Within two days he lost two units. We found the second one which was badly chewed up. It also detached while he was inside and alone so he must have been able to reach it.I purchased two new units from Amazon. The new units are "grey" versions. Their battery seems to be 50% better stretching usage out to about 36 hours. We are using them attached to his collar and have not lost a unit in the last week.Currently I am trying to figure out how to remove lost or damaged units from Tagg's tracking application. You can assign them to new pets but can not remove them.

Este producto se anuncia como útil para mascotas perros/gatos. Pero el transmisor es demasiado grande para un gato.Sólo puede resultar útil para un perro. Además, posteriormente debe pagarse un servicio que también tiene costo. No lo recomiento. Hay otros productos alternativos.

年間登録費が毎年必要。1万円くらい。しかも登録しようとするとアメリカの地図しか登録できず、にほんでは使用できませんでした。即返品しました。
