Cool game!!!!

Man our games were so lame!!! I like playing atari 2600 and SNES with my sons. This is a tough one to play

I played this game on my Atari 2600

This is a fairly simple game, depicting the battle on Hoth from The Empire Strikes Back.The Empire's AT-AT walkers slowly across the play field, and you need to destroy them before they make it to the rebel base. This is accomplished by shooting them over and over, mashing the fire button while avoiding return fire. However, every once in a while you'll see a glowing weak spot. When you see this, shoot it for a 1-shot kill.Every once in a while you'll hear the Star Wars theme song and your speeder glows. You're immune to enemy fire at this point, so mash away!These is no end to the walkers, they just keep coming until you lose.Graphics are not all that great. The walkers do have a nice walking animation though.Back in the day, games like this enticed me into mounting an Atari joystick on to a wooden frame. So instead of holding the controller and using my thumb to push the button, I could set the board on my lap and use fingertips to fire. This made all the button mashing a little more manageable.

This game is very simple and has no real end. You win by having the highest score. Sadly it does not save your score or even let you type in your initials. You are suppose to be a SNOWSPEEDER (More like X-WING) to take down the AT-AT (ALL TERRAIN ARMORED TRANSPORT). It's a side scrolling game that eventually wraps around it self. You have a map on the bottom telling you were the AT-AT's are at and after 2 minutes of staying alive you get "THE FORCE" and become invincible. The game ends when you run out of lives. I really like the music and find I it much easier to use MY SEGA GENESIS CONTROLLER to play. I own an atari 7800 which also plays atari VCS (2600) games.
