Works well vs hair algae
This is about the only stuff I've found that kills black hair algae. You have to double dose it but it works. Plants thrive while dosing this.

Great size for dosing larger tanks
Flourish Excel is a great product for keeping algae levels low and helping growth rate in your plants. If you can't afford or are nervous about injected CO2, this is a good middle step between low tech and high tech. I bought this for my 75 gallon planted tank a few months ago and still haven't needed to restock, even though I've been dosing it as directed daily plus during weekly 50% water changes. Definitely worth the investment over constantly buying containers a quarter this size through my local fish store.

Great for planted tanks, and helps keep algae under control
Definitely helps the plants in my tank grow faster. It also helps to keep most algae under control. It might not go away completely, but there's an ingredient in it that helps inhibit algae growth.

Great help for planted tank success
I'm a low-tech kind of planted tank keeper. I don't do CO2 or fancy lighting, and my general attitude is to just put stuff in the water and let it do its thing. My low-light plants were doing OK before I started dosing with Flourish Excel 2-3x/week, but once I started, I noticed (and documented!) results within a week. The plants started growing fuller & more quickly, with a more lush, deeper green color than before. In combination with a good planted substrate, Flourish Excel is absolutely key to the success of my tanks, in my opinion. In this series of photos [...]), I started dosing 3x/week with Flourish Excel at the beginning of February. The results, as they say, speak for themselves.
