These Strings help your fingers do magic things.. trust me
The hype is real.. These are the strings i've been looking for my whole life..if i would have found out about these strings a few months ago.. i have 2 acoustic guitars that i spent new money on, that i would NOT have bought.. i have a Parlor sized guitar, that has a standard size regular length neck/fretboard.. and the frets up by the head stock, are perfect for my big fingers.. But its a guitar that came with Nylon strings, which at first i wanted.. But lately i've wanted the sound and feel of some steel (for a Prince song i'm learning) and i could not find a guitar (here in the Philippines where i've been chilling) with the width that works for my fingers (for some reason everywhere i've checked, in different music stores, in different cities, the width at the top of the neck is shorter than usual).. So i did a lot of hunting and research.. and found out about these EXPENSIVE Strings.. ordered them to put on my Nylon string guitar i brought with me from New York.. and they are worth all the money.. i just bought another set to be sent to meSo after i put them on the guitar, the added pleasure of having Flatwound strings on this Parlor/Classical guitar is Super Incredible.. The hype is real.. they make NO screechy scratching sounds at all.. None. So i will be a Flatwound lifer now.. i put some on my electric guitar too.. But Then the ease of play they bring is too wonderful.. i got these 10s, and they are terrific for bending, doing hammer-ons.. slides, whatever.. i can do all my little soulful things effortlessly.. in my research i heard some people speak of issues playing chords because they are light.. i don't have that problems.. i love these things.. they are my new favorite string of choice.. Happy i found them. One more thing.. these strings come with silk on the top and down by the ball end.. just keep that on there and you'll be good. the string's length fit my guitar fine. i did need to use a tiny 1.5 drill bit.. to open the hole for the 6th E string.. just a pinch, because it was stopping where the silk on the end began.. but i just pushed the drill bit in and out, very carefully with my hand (not with the bit on a drill).. and it worked.. after that the silk end on the string went in no problem. the rest of the strings with smaller gauges didn't give me that problem..

Great strings
I really like these strings. These strings are very smooth and make no squeaking noise when playing the guitar. They feel like silk and are very easy on the fingers. The sound is bright and clear and crisp with wonderful bass tones coming from the lower end strings. Excellent quality. I highly recommend these strings.

SWEET STRINGS
to me these were worth the cost. they play smoothly & comfortably & no finger tip noise. even better than the flatwound acoutics by galli and so called "flat tops" . yes you cant attack or fill up an auditorium w sustain but these r creamy smooth. they made playing pleasureable again.

Smooth with zero finger slide noise
Great strings! Worth the extra money for me. These play like a dream with zero annoying finger slide noise. The overall un-amplified sound on my Taylor guitar isn't as loud as with the Elixer strings that come standard, but the smooth sound with zero slide noise more than makes up for that. Plus, when you play the guitar thru an amp you get a perfect sound! These have become my forever strings!

Steels on a nylon guitar
These were recommended by my luthier to put on my 1890 Martin guitar (that he restored). The instrument is braced for gut strings, of course, but these things don't stress the top and they sound great. Highly recommended, unless you're invested in the nylon string sound.

KF110 are 95.6 FtLbs of total tension - fair warning
Classical string descriptions like "Lights, High, Medium, etc. are mostly meaningless. What is critical is the total Foot Pounds of tension on the bridge.95 pounds is pretty high - I won't go over 85 for my 1960's classical guitars.I certainly wouldn't use these on a pre-war guitar, they just weren't designed for high tension strings - they didn't exist back then so no one was designing classical guitars for them. One possible workaround would be to use an alternate tuning. Dropping 85 pound strings down to DADGAD tuning backs off the total tension to around 75 pounds.

Quality - will buy again
These are great strings.

Flat wound strings
They have a really great tone, with no finger slip noise from fret to fret.

Very nice strings but they are STEEL strings for a nylon strung instrument
Thomastik-Infeld make some interesting strings for nylon "classical" strung guitars. This set is the Classic S-Series Flat Wound KF110 & are basically steel strings for a nylon strung guitar. They are not nylon strings. Usually you can't put steel strings on a nylon "classical" guitar because the tension on the neck would be too great, with these you can. Why would you want to? Well that's up to the type of sound you want to have but these will give you a bright clean tone that is quite beautiful They are also as smooth as glass and are easy to the touch.I find that the very thin diameter of the 3 top strings (.010, .014 plain steel & .018 flat wound) strange to get used to & I prefer the KF116 set that are nylon tape wound on rope core & are thicker .016, .024 & .025. But both these sets are thinner than the average nylon set which would be typically .028, .032 & .040.Other things to note on both the S series strings is that they are extremely well made (& should be for the price) they uncoil straight from the packets without curling & have ball ends. Very quick & easy to fit, they sound in tune straight away & dont seem to require days of breaking in like most nylons, staying remarkably in tune from the start. They do however require very tiny amounts of movement from your tuning pegs to tune & are not acoustically particularly loud.Guitar strings are very personal & these are really "Marmite" as in you'll either love them or hate them.If you are a traditionalist who plays mostly classical pieces you probably wont like them but if you play other styles or have an electro nylon guitar you might love them.

Amazing
I wasn't sure at first, but I've decided these strings are amazing. They've turned an unloved beat up old charity shop classical guitar, that was just unplayable into a cherished thing of wonder. The tone is very mellow, similar to classical guitar tone, but it's also brightened with a soft metallic chiming resonance, that seems to sustain for a long time. I've found that they also work well with a slide, as they are smooth (flat wound). Of course being steel, they also work well with a soundhole pickup and keep some of that mellowness in more aggressive amplified sounds. As others mention, they are low tension which makes them suitable for classical guitar, and easy on the fingers. They have ball ends which can be made to work with classical guitars, although personally I modified my guitar to take bridge pins (but that's another story).I put them on 3 days ago, and have not been able to put down that horrible old square necked guitar since.I almost didn't want to give a positive review, to keep them a secret. However I want them to keep making them, so I say they're great.
