I purchased the XtremepowerUS 13” Sand Filter with the 3/4 HP, 2,400 GPH pump last summer for my 16-foot above-ground pool, and it has been one of the best upgrades I’ve made. Since switching to this sand filter system, maintaining crystal-clear water has been much easier. I use significantly fewer chemicals than before, and my water stays balanced with just shock treatments and chlorine tablets. The filtration is so much better that I no longer have to constantly fight cloudy water or spend money on extra chemicals trying to keep things clean. The only minor issue I experienced was the hose that connects the pump to the sand tank. Over time, it developed a crack and started leaking. Unfortunately, mine cracked in the middle of the night, and I didn’t notice until the next morning. I replaced the hose with PVC piping, which made the setup much more secure and reliable. While it was an inconvenience, it wasn’t enough to affect my overall opinion of the pump. Performance-wise, this system is a huge improvement over the small cartridge pump that comes with most above-ground pools. It filters the water much faster, provides better circulation, and even gives my pool fountain attachment noticeably stronger water pressure. Another benefit is the sand itself. A bag costs around $25, and I haven’t had to replace it during the entire swimming season. Compared to constantly buying replacement filters and additional chemicals for the stock pump, this setup saves both time and money. Overall, I still give this pump a solid 5-star rating. The hose issue was minor compared to all the benefits. If you’re tired of dealing with cloudy water, weak circulation, and expensive filter replacements, save yourself the headache and upgrade to this sand filter system. I promise you won’t regret it.

I was a little skeptical of this product after opening the box and looking at the instructions, but assembly was pretty straight forward. For the price, I am beyond happy with it. I Had a leak at the drain plug when I first installed, but adding more PTFE tape fixed it. Even though I’ve only had it running for a few hours, it works wonders compared to the filter/pump that was included with my 18ft Coleman pool. I did not need any additional supplies other than sand to get the pump set up and running. The included adapters worked perfectly for my pool. I recommend this product for anyone looking to upgrade from the stock Coleman pump/filter without breaking the bank.

I would not recommend the XtremepowerUS 16" Sand Filter Pump. Since April 2025, I have purchased two of these units, and both have failed. The first pump developed a problem when the seal on the sand filter assembly broke. I attempted to find a replacement part but was unable to purchase one, so I ended up buying a second complete unit just to have spare parts available. Unfortunately, the second pump wasn't any better. It made it through the last month of the 2025 pool season, and when I set my pool up again in 2026, it initially worked great. However, after a short period of use, the pump began shutting off and turning back on approximately every 45 seconds, making it unusable. I contacted XtremepowerUS customer service by email and was told that because I was outside of their 30-day warranty period, they would not provide any assistance. For a product that is expected to last multiple seasons, a 30-day warranty and lack of support is extremely disappointing. Based on my experience, these pumps are not durable, replacement parts are difficult to obtain, and customer service was unwilling to help when the product failed. Save your money and look for a higher-quality sand filter pump from another manufacturer.

It allows you to visually monitor the color of the backwash water. When the water turns clear, you know the sand is clean and you can stop the backwash cycle. Without this feature, I'm left guessing a bit. While I rely on the pressure gauge (backwashing when the pressure rises about 8-10 PSI above its clean reading) and a rough estimate of time, a visual confirmation would be incredibly helpful. It would prevent over-backwashing (saving water) or under-backwashing (ensuring optimal filtration). It's a small detail that makes a big difference in efficient maintenance. Final Verdict: Despite the absence of a site glass, the XtremePowerUS 13-inch sand filter pump is an excellent choice for maintaining a clean and clear above-ground pool. Total junk. Lasted one year. Worked ok when it was working. It definitely gets clogged up fast when filtering. My other pumps I’ve purchased would usually give 3 years. Purchased June 1 2025. Update opened up the electrical box and found a fuse that was blown. Bypassed the fuse and it runs great. Changed to 4 stars.

Bought the Coleman 22’ 52” above ground pool from Walmart. The pump that comes with it is awful. This pump completely turned my water clear in less than a day. We’ve had it running for about 2 weeks now and it is excellent at doing its job. Read the instructions. Remember to always turn the handle clockwise. That’s it. Set it and forget it.

This is worth it. We have a 18x48 so its overkilll. We wanted a slightly bigger one gor maybe a bigger pool next year. Very well packaged and sturdy. I did get adapters because i already had my hoses set up. I did use better teflon tape than what came with it and i used silicone grease on all the gaskets and o rings. No leaks. Runs quiet. So far extremely happy.

Easy to install. Takes qty 2 50lbs of pool sand , cost of sand is about $49,00. All parts are with the new order. Ote - You may need an adapter part for the skimmer end which cost is approx cost$35,00 from most pool stores or online but this depends on age and hook up of the skimmer. Easy to setup and operate. The pool timer is a plus. I do recommend it. I did purchase the 4yr extended service plan just incase something occurs.

Everything I thought it would be , arrived really fast

The multiport valve failed after 1 season (5 months) of use. Quality is very poor and most components aren't serviceable. The price is low but you get what you pay for.
