This would be a very nice mat but even after two weeks I could not get it to cease outgassing. It seems that some buyers do not report the terrible outgasing (butyl rubber smell) so I took a chance. The mat is being cut to pieces and put into the dumpster. I scrubbed it with detergent several times, used 98% isopropyl to scrub and soak, literally soaked it in detergent solutions for days, and no joy. Not sure why only two others made comment about the outgassing. Maybe there's a problem with quality control. It would cost me more in gasoline and driving time to return it to Amazon than to discard it. I gave it five stars for total crap because some of my one-star reviews are not posted by Amazon. Don't be stupid like I was. DO NOT purchase this item.

For my use, this mat is perfect. I've had a bad experience with other inexpensive ESD mat products. Curling (all edges) made them less than useful. I received this mat and it was wrapped tightly but it was wrapped the right way for me - top layer out. So, the only slight curl (very slight and I'm sure it will flatten) is on the far edges and no curling on the long sides. Also, the mat matches the listed dimensions to 1/32 of an inch - outstanding. I'll put on a clip to ground and should be set.

Product is perfect size for ATX mid-tower project. Does a great job knocking down static threat. Mine did have a stronger smell (not intolerable), but I guess from the material that can be expected.

The size is nice, not to small, not to big. The wrist strap is has an alligator clip so it can be attached to the mat anywhere along the mat's edge. I was impressed with the mat's thickness. It stays put on the work bench, yet rolls-up for easy storage.

This mat smelled so bad it gave me a headache. I would have taken it outside immediately, but I had urgent work to get done. After one day of use, the mat smells just as strongly. I removed it from the house at the end of the day, but the smell now lingers -- it seems that the chemical has contaminated the workbench.

Well I thought this would be just alright, but it's very good for the price and heat-resistant too. You can burn it if you try with a soldering iron but hot air and drops to solder should be fine. There are other mats similarly priced like the star tech one that will just melt if a blob of hot solder touches it. It is resistive, so it should dissipate ESD on a grounded metal table or by grounding it out to earth ground by attaching a lead. I'd buy another if I needed too it's pretty big and thick for 20 bucks.

Un peu recourbé vu que c'Est enroulé mais se met bien plat par la suite. Fait el travail comme supposé, bonne longueur. Ça sent bcp le caoutchouc mais j'imagine avec le temps ça va partir.

It is still partially rolled on the edges. Back was also pretty cheap. It will do what I want it to do. I only needed something cheap to leave printed circuit boards on.

Product stinks like car tires. The chemical smell is nauseating.

This is a awesome mat for soldering, hobbies an what have you. Roll it out, let sit for a day to let flatten and away you go... I would buy again
