I also used it to make a custom backsplash. It is a great tool, but some context is needed. 1) It has a laser sight, but it never proved necessary. 2) It is a mini-saw. Meaning, it will struggle to cut materials thicker than 1". This is rarely a concern unless you are framing. 3) pairing it with a framing square made an excellent edge guide. 4) The saw has angle and depth control. However, like all circular saws, they are less than accurate. You will need to set them with a gauge. Otherwise, there are no issues with alignment. 5) The saw is tough, but it can be broken. Specifically, the aluminum faceplate can be bent if dropped. This is the only issue I found with it's durability. The damage was my fault, not the tool's. Overall, it proves itself as a tool. To cut off the bullnose on 20 original stair treads at my home (so that I could install hardwood re-treads). After cutting off the first two with a 7-1/4” circular saw and finishing the cuts on either end with an oscillating saw, I wanted something smaller that left a smaller amount to cut off with the oscillating saw. For the price, this saw got the job done and it was easier and more accurate than the larger circular saw. The saw had enough power to get through the 1” pine treads but struggled a couple of times. The laser helped to make for more accurate cuts on the individual stair treads. The saw could only get to within 2-1/2” or so of the end of the stair tread and I still needed to use an oscillating saw to cut the rest off. I knew I would still need to use the oscillatory saw but was hoping to get a little closer to the edge with this smaller saw. The rail that came with the saw seemed a bit flimsy and I chose not to use it to help make for straight lines (feared it might come loose and the cut line would drift). Additionally, I had to start in the middle of the tread and cut one way, and then flip the saw around and cut the other way. I would have rated this saw 4 stars on its performance alone, but when I consider the price, it warranted 5 stars. And what's carrying case like?** A: The saw is 19" long including the stiff plug connector so if you need to cut the floor with the saw moving away from a wall and not toward it you have to start cutting about 15" from it. If you're cutting the floor and moving the saw toward the wall, you can cut to within about 5" of the wall. The foot plate is the widest part at 3.5" and the saw is roughly 7" tall at the blade with the blade fully extended below the foot plate. The case is 20"L x 9"T x 5.5"W. I have only used the saw for perhaps an hour of run time so far, but it's my new favorite saw, light, powerful, accurate, easy to handle, great tool. **Q: Is this powerful enough to cut pavers?** A: I have not cut pavers with this saw. It seems an odd application. The paver would need to be no more than about 1.5" thick and you'd have to find a 4.5" diamond blade to even try it.
