Prefect for any Grouping
Great grouping tool or to call on students. The shapes, numbers and colors give me options that the students cannot predict. It made calling on students fun and kept them guessing who would be next. I have two sets to keep up with which ones have been used. I saw these the first time in a faculty meeting and they worked well with adults! Highly recommended.

Great Way to Group Kids
What a great resource! These are awesome to group students with or to even have students within a group pick and see who gets to go first. A classroom must have

Engaging Teacher Tool!
I will use these terrific pencils the remainder of my years teaching. I had them in my cart forever here on Amazon and when some students gave me Amazon gift cards for an end-of-year gift, I finally clicked ADD to cart! :+) Just as others stated, you can group students by pencil color, the shape on the pencil or the number on the pencil. So kids can't try to pick a certain pencil to be with friends since you announce the group they should find, AFTER they pick their pencils. They are as pictured, but I will say that my initial thought upon opening the container was that they seemed less substantial because they are plastic. They are not flimsy--not at all, but yes, plastic. I think I actually had wood in mind when I ordered b/c after all, they are "pencils". Of course I made this up in my own mind b/c they are clearly described as plastic in the description. If I lost these- I would absolutely by them again!

Great classroom call out sticks
Very durable, colourful and so easy to use! One sharpie and 30 minutes gives me call out sticks for the whole year.

Great for random groups
After seeing another teacher use these I had to get my own set. They work great for setting up random groups in my classroom.

Great grouping tool
I used this to group instructors for a development activity it worked well bc they all assumed it was grouping by color and I used the shapes. You can group by color, shape, or number.

Love them!
These are exactly what I was looking for. Some days, I don’t need to group my students in a specific way. I just need to break them into random, small groups. And it’s good for the kids to work with different people, too! This ensures that my students get to work with new people every time I use them. The kids can just pick a pencil and I randomly decide if I’m grouping them by color, shape, or number! I think next year I might write their names in sharpie to use the pencils like popsicle sticks/have a little more control within their three groups. Every once in a while, the groups didn’t work well as randomly selected. It would be nice to be able to counter that by saying “Now find your shape group and discuss” or something to that effect. Expo marker over the sharpie erases the writing (just tested), so I can use them year after year with different student names! But that limits the kids to three groups. So I’m thinking I’ll have three purposefully selected groups but still allow the students to pull a random pencil regardless of the name, when it suits the activity.

Three grouping possibilities!
These are perfect for the lazy teachers! I didn’t have to make anything, and that is worth the cost to me. They have 6 different colors, each color had a number between 1 and 6 printed on it, and each color also has 6 different shapes! So, you can group by all the same color, then switch up the group to all the same number, and then switch it again by grouping all the same shape.
