Does this need to be plugged directly into the wall outlet, or can it be plugged into a strip? Can I connect a strip to this unit safely?

Accepted Answer

The warranty is void if the unit is plugged into anything but an outlet.  The warranty language does not seem to address plugging strips INTO the unit. See also Dan J's response, above.

Question 2

The prior unit (ac-215) said that its surge protection was "non-sacrificial."  this one does not say that. is it?

The AC-215A manual says: "Traditional surge suppression circuits sacrifice themselves when exposed to multiple transient voltage spikes, requiring the dismantling of your system and repair of your surge suppressor. Not so with Furman’s SMP. Damaging transient voltages are safely absorbed, clamped, and dissipated. Your connected equipment is protected, while your Furman protects itself!"

Will this take the 60 cycle hum out of my home tube amp?

yes, it will if the issue is a bad ground from your wall socket, I've bought two for the same reason and yes it removed all the noise caused by the bad ground from a wall socket. i suggest plugging your amp in another receptacle, preferably at a different house, just to ensure it isn't a bad tube or cable. (I know this question is from 2017 but maybe it will help someone else)

Question 4

Can I plug a surge protector (or power strip) into this, as long as I dont overload?  Will things plugged into the powerstrip still have pure power?

No absolutely not. At the heart of this Furman technology is an MOV based surge suppressor and it is very dangerous to daisy change surge suppressors. These 3 companies make SERIES MODE power filters that do not use MOV's (Metal Oxide Varistors). If you had to, you could plug an MOV based surge suppressor into one of the SERIES MODE power filters, but the obvious question would be why? If you need more outlets, consider a power strip that has no surge suppression.
