3 years and still going. Works good..
1 month after I bought this it stopped working. I hate returning anything so I opened it and hardwired the medium speed setting with the on/off and then through the remote away since it was useless. Later I discovered part of the shop had reverse wiring and this could have blown out the electrical on this unit, as 2 security cameras stopped working also about this time, so I give Shop Fox the benefit of the doubt that had my wiring not been reversed it would have worked fine. When I run this unit it works very good at filtering dust. The seal around the filter area is not tight so you might want to put a piece of duct tape around it and then just slit it when you are ready to change the filter. Filters are a little pricey for me but by blowing them out with a leaf blower I can usually go a year before replacing them. Now, since it was my fault the remote didn't work I bought a set of remote outlets, plugged this unit in and now I have an on/off remote for this and 4 other items I want to plug in such as a dust collector for the table saw. Don't need everything running at once so the remote really saves me some steps.

First impression
I've only had this product for a few hours, but first impressions exceed expectations. I bought this for a 20x20x8 wood shop based on the reviews. I installed it tonight and gave it a good test.First of all, the unit came well packaged and appears to be solidly built. It comes with everything you need to hang it including hooks and chains. The first thing I noticed was how quiet and smooth it runs even on high speed. Now for the test. After I hung it and turned it on I proceeded to give my shop a good cleaning. I have a big project I've been working on this week and the shop was a mess with sawdust everywhere. The first thing I did was blow all the fine dust off of everything using my air compressor. Then I proceeded to vacuum up all the sawdust on the floor. Finally I swept the rest of the floor and vacuumed up the pile. Elapsed time start to finish about 30 minutesThe 1830 was running the whole time. First thing I noticed, is that when I was done, the usual remnant layer of fine dust was missing. Second, the outer filter had turned from snow white, to medium tan.I almost went with a Jet unit costing $150 more, but this unit seems to be perfectly sized for my small shop and works great. According to the calculations it will change the air in the shop every 7 1/2 minutes.

So far, so good.
So far I am glad I made this purchase. It appears to be doing a great job in tandem with my Delta dust collector at keeping the air clean. I really appreciate the fact it came with all hardware needed to be able to mount it to my ceiling. I expected to have to make a trip to Lowe's for chain or hooks but they were included in the Box. So far the remote seems to be working just fine but I haven't tested at much of a distance quite yet. The system is quiet which is great. I barely notice it while it's running. I've only owned it for about a week so I can't really put any comments in about longevity or long-term durability. My lungs are glad I made the purchase.

good product
Good product cleans the air in my basement shop well. The remote is the only reason I gave it a four star rating, it doesnt work well for some reason. It is not a big issue to me because I can reach the controls on the unit. The air filters can be blown out well with an air compressor and you can get alot of life out of them. The plus side of replacing filters are they are reasonably priced. Great air cleaner I would recommend having one in a small shop you will surpirsed with the difference after a long day of sanding or machining.

Great value for well made product
I had been looking for a long time to find a filtration system that met my needs. Those that I had seen in my local tool shop had too large of a foot print, were too high, were too heavy and too expensive. I read the reviews on Amazon for the big brand offerings and was not impressed with what the reviewers had to say until I read the reviews for the Shop Fox.Having only a 7'-0" basement height, I found the low 10" profile of this unit to be perfect. The unit is unbelievably quiet at all speeds. Having hung the filtration system from the ceiling joists, I was concerned about noise transfer to the floor above in the event that the floor construction of the house would amplify the sound and I would hear its operation in my den above. I could not hear the unit from the den.The high fan speed setting gives me 12.5 air changes per hour resulting in a noticeable difference in the air quality. After a session in the shop I did notice some dust on shop surfaces but this is understandable, because by its nature, this type of system does not connect directly to dust producing equipment but filters the saw dust after it becomes airborne. Before considering this unit, make sure the air volume of this system is adequate for the size of your shop. You may find that you need a system capable of more air volume than this unit can provide. The more the number of air changes per hour, the better will be its filtration but you may find that with extra air volume you will get increased discharge air velocity which could be a nuisance in the shop. I would not consider a system resulting in an air change rate much less than the 12.5AC I am getting. The filters are easily accessible but I have not used the system long enough to see how long the pre-filter will last nor how easy it will be to clean the internal filter. As for the remote control, you need to be fairly close and not on much of an angle to the unit for the unit to receive the signal. The speed control can be adjusted from either the unit or the remote. However, it would have been nice to be able to control the timer from the unit where now it can only be controlled from the remote. So far I am extremely happy with this unit.
