Horrible! Noisy noisy noisy! Whole house couldn't sleep and humidity was not coming out well. Don't recommend this.

This is the third V4450 Humidifier we have owned. They all work perfectly and have been long lived. We run them at least eight hours every night and sometimes during the day using distilled water. The first two were whisper quiet. This last one sounds like a diesel engine under load. very noisy. First two get a five star, this one a two because of noise.

I AGREE WITH THE OTHER TWO REVIEWS, THIS PARTICULAR MODEL ISN'T VERY PRACTICUL, IT REQUIRES A LOT OF CLEANING. MY HUSBAND AND I TOO BOUGHT THIS FOR OUR SON, WE SHOULD'VE TAKEN OUR TIME AND LOOKED AT ALL THE OTHER HUMIDIFIERS, BUT WE ASSUMED THIS ONE NOT HAVING A FILTER, IT WOULD BE FINE TO DO THE JOB, WE WERE WRONG. I'M SITTING HERE TYPING ABOUT THE MODEL V4450, WHILE I LOOK DOWN AND SEE A TRAY FULL OF HARD WATER STAINS AND AS THE OTHER REVIEW STATED, THERE'S MOLD ON THE INSIDE IF THE PART WITH THE MOTOR INSIDE, OH THE CONTAINER THAT HOLDS THE WATER HAS HARD WATER INSIDE THAT TOO. THE REASON I CAME ACROSS THESE REVIEWS, I WAS LOOKING FOR A OWNERS MANUAL SO I COULD FIND OUT HOW AND WHAT IS NEEDED FOR CLEANING, WHICH IS, BLEACH AND VINIGAR, THIS HUMIDIFIER DOES IN FACT NEED TOO MUCH ATTENTION TO KEEP IT CLEAN FOR PROPER USE, I ALMOST FORGOT, WHEN IT STARTS TO ACCUMULATE HARD WATER STAINS THE HUMIDIFIER STARTS TO MAKE A LOUD SOUND BECAUSE OF THE HARD WATER CORRODING ON THE DIFFERENT PARTS. THIS MODEL V4450 ISN'T WORTH THE MONEY PAID AND ALL THE TIME AND ENGERY IT NEEDS TO KEEP IT WORKING UP TO PAR, I PERSONALLY WOULDN'T RECOMMEND BUYING THIS MODEL, I DEFINIATELY WOULDN'T BUY IT AGAIN!!

Just enough sound to help you sleep. Really puts out some humidity. Easy to fill and clean. Have used this style for years.

used for 1 winter season, plugged it in this winter and it didn't work.

It worked great at first, but after only a couple of years the motor seized up. I took it apart and there is rust all over the motor. I tried oiling it and trying to turn it manually to work the oil through, but it's frozen solid. We only use it once every few months and then only for 2-3 nights at a time. If there is constant moisture when being used, then they shouldn't they have sealed the motor area to protect it from the moisture? When it worked we liked it ok, but there are better and cheaper options available that hopefully last much longer than this one did.

This is a great machine for a fairly decent price. A lot of complaints about noise, but I like white noise. Puts out a good amount of moisture & holds enough water to run all night and not worry about emptying out before you wake. I don't like that you really have to be OCD & clean it thoroughly every day or gunk builds up quickly. My biggest issue is you can't get into the part with the motor (whole apparatus is 3 parts), where the water is drawn up & blown out to be able to clean. Left for a weekend and now there's a musty/mildewy smell that just won't go away. Afraid it's trash now :-( Well worth buying as long as you are diligent about cleaning daily ...
