Not what I was expecting
So, I've owned several projectors over the years, primarily because of their price to image size ratio being much better than traditional TVs. This projector replaced the Optoma HD20 that was in my living room that I had for 8 years with another dying bulb.I found this projector to be much louder than my Optoma. In fact it was so loud that I actually downloaded a sound metering app on my phone just to see if it was in spec. In eco mode it was running at 36db. Interestingly, a professional review I've read said that the fan noise settled down when the projector warmed up a bit, but I actually found it to be the opposite. When the fans intiailly kicked on is about the sound level and pitch as I was expecting. However, when the laser finally starting emitting light ( I think when the color wheel started spinning) was when I noticed a much higher pitch sound above the fan noise that I wasn't expecting. This high pitch sound was still in the db range, but much more noticeable when trying to watch content.I'm really really pissed off about how much the "instant on" feature has been marketed. The term is technically accurate, but incredibly misleading. My definition of instant on would be the second I hit the power button, the projector produces a fully bright image instantly. Instead, what happens is that the projector takes about 10 seconds to warm up the fans and then the projector produces an instant fully lit image. Given how this was marketed, I expected this to be one of the killer features of a laser projector, but alas it was just more BS. I will grant them that the projector does produce a fully lit image much quicker than a traditional bulb projector, but no where near close to what a TV does. The color tones also dramatically change when you go from "normal" to "eco" mode. The colors seem more accurate on normal mode, and honestly eco doesn't seem to dim the image all that much, I'd say around 20% less brightness than normal.Lastly, the menu seems really weird. You don't actually access the color controls in the traditional menu, you have to access them via buttons on the remote, which I thought was rather silly.Overall, I'm happy with the price of this unit, but some of the main reasons I bought this aren't really being met. I guess I should have waited another 3-4 years for laser to be more main stream. Honestly was hard enough waiting the initial 3-4 for laser to hit this price point in the consumer space, oh well. Live and learn.

Glad we tried different projectors!
This thing is AMAZING! No professionals here…just a long-time couch-coop couple who finally got the PS5 and wanted to see how good the new projector images look. And in a word….phenomenal. Tried several of the non-laser models….including the current top-rated Ben Q with double Iris....not really that great. (Although, as mentioned…not pros so unsure how to do all the intricate color/hue/saturation/tint/etc tweaks to optimize)…..then we tried an Optima UHD laser projector and wow….way better. But then…..we realized it was laser at 1080p….and we realized we hadn’t gotten all the next-gen tech so we took a shot and went big for this Viewsonic LS-7004k-uhd Laser projector (@at near 70% off for “like new” through the Warehouse.Ummm……wow. Finally…we’re playing Bloodbourde ( taking turns each death) on what Truro looks as good as our Samsung flatscreen….but now at almost 120Inches. We can see the individual globs of goo fly off the infected rat eyeballs….blood flies deep and wide with a brilliance almost beyond description….and although we’re not pros as mentioned for the third time……there must be something to the lowerr latency in signal processing cuz when you hit the heal it heals instantly (one lass thing to scream about ) and that f-in Giant Undead in the first tomb, who jumps like a demon ninja on pcp….we finally got the edge on him as our character actually rolled out of the way BEFORE insta-death.Gaming preset for all the Ps5 games we e played is stunning……contrast is incredible…we’re in the deep dark places with just the right amount of brilliant light from our Hunter’s torch. And the Bright preset is fantastic for all the media we’ve watched thus far in YouTube, HBOGo, and AppleTV.So, anyway….we wanted to share an honest review from a normal couple doing their best to enjoy the downtime during this last, and possibly upcoming COVID lockdown. Remember…..we’re all in this together…..there is light behind all the madness….your view depends on how much light you let shine through. And we’re facing the days ahead with next-gen LASER clarity…thanks in part to Viewsonic’s leading-edge LS7004k-UHD LASER projector.

Overall good, but not long-lasting
Overall this was a pretty decent projector for the price. Puchased in late 2020, it served us well for a year-ish. The only specific drawback I can think of was the XBox Series X refuses to recognize it for some of the 4k HDR options, but it still looked good. A little noisy (as mentioned elsewhere), but it didn't really bother my viewing. For the last 6 months or so, we've been seeing dead pixels; one every couple months here and there, for a total of about 7. I'm used to pretty much all products these days being bad quality and not-long-lasting, so I just sucked it up. Last week, however, the projector failed hard; a loud noise from it and then death. No power, no lights, nothing. Hoping I'll be able to get it fixed under warranty... I can't remember what the warranty time was, but I do know that 18 months is -way- too short for a projector lifespan.

Hell of a deal for a very good 4k projector.
Very good brightness for all but bright rooms, but extremely impressive in low light. Contrast ratio and clarity are outstanding. Very very happy with the purchase.

Horrible sound quality
I just bought this projector week ago, the Picture quality is awesome crisp and sharp. The big draw back is at full volume I can not hear any thing for this price point I do not want to buy an additional speaker. Honestly if the voice option worked, this projector is the best.

1080p Version open box deal from AW
At 1500 im not sure how id feel but considering i paid about that much for my Epson a few years ago. I live in an apartment with floor to ceiling windows and my epson struggles as the lamp dies to maintain a viable brightness with enough detail. The LS700HD while larger than my Epson its quieter and much better visual fidelity. Once I get them fully swapped out I'll post a full review. Paying almost 1/3 MSRP for an open box one from the warehouse makes this a perfect stop-gap until i can fully upgrade to UST laser projector.

Bright and heavy
Brightness at 40% is about the same as a 2000 Lumen projector, so it looks as advertised at 3500 Lumen. Runs cool in eco mode (80%) , and much cooler than previous bulb projector. Lots of colour adjustment options, and light level adjustments at 10% increments. Takes about 10 seconds to do its startup routine.20lbs, so it is heavy and large. So far so good (4 days in). Have it rear ceiling mounted 20' back and fills 212" diagonal wall. Plenty bright to have lights on. 4K version would have been almost twice as much and not worth it yet.
