'This century's most compelling theorist of racism and colonialism' Angela Davis 'Fanon is our contemporary ... In clear language, in words that can only have been written in the cool heat of rage, Fanon showed us the internal theatre of racism' Deborah Levy Frantz Fanon's urgent, dynamic critique of the effects of racism on the psyche is a landmark study of the black experience in a white world. Drawing on his own life and his work as a psychoanalyst to explore how colonialism's subjects internalize its prejudices, eventually emulating the 'white masks' of their oppressors, it established Fanon as a revolutionary anti-colonialist thinker. 'So hard to put down ... a brilliant, vivid and hurt mind, walking the thin line that separates effective outrage from despair' The New York Times Book Review Review: The mask for change and race equality in mental health. - The book is profoundly insightful of the importance of the colonial period and the impact on the masks of race and the deeply embedded issues of race and colour in the current period and as a conceptual framework to understand health and mental health. Review: Essential Book - This is an essential book for anyone interested in decolonial and race theory, particularly for those with a focus on the wider Atlantic world and Caribbean. An insightful read that will introduce you to Fanon’s oeuvre.

hence the course like approach to it
This is a heavy read, not for the faint hearted :) I have to now see this book as a course as appose to a late night goto bed book. It starts off ok, but gets quite deep early on. I didn't want to just go through the motions of reading it. So I'm trying to really understand it, hence the course like approach to it

A must read for every blacks person and curious whites person
The book talks about a sensitive matter that I don’t know of many blacks want to admit: the inferiority complex in black peoples as a result of white supremacy. There could not be white supremacy without black inferiority. We fight white supremacy but forget that if the devil can defeat you in your mind, he no longer needs to fight you, you’ll fight yourself. The style of writing at times was too poetic and I felt I may have missed some points cause I could not get it. For the most part, I am better for reading this book and would highly recommend!

Fanon is Fanon. Such an important voice.
Just read it and FEEL the past, FEEL injustice all around us. Fanon slick, disarming, brilliant and erudite when he needs to be. Voices like this aren't born. They're CREATED by that around them.

Stone cold classic.
C’mon. You don’t need a review; this is a classic text. Surprisingly easy to read for such a deep collection of essays. Nice imprint, decent font size, newer translation.

A complex and emotive read
Used towards my English literature studies and have been fascinated by the thought processs of emigrants - it is a book that showcases the need for the black man to conform to european and white standards and deals with so much more.

Deep analysis of "the mind"
FF says it as it is and backs it with prudent observation.

Deeply Resonant and Thought-Provoking
The book came in great condition. I have only read the introduction, but I am so intrigued by Fanon's mind. I learned about this book in 3rd year of University in my psychology class. The concepts of neurocism of blackness and the way Fanon talks about internalised racism resonated with me so deeply as a black person. Two years later, I decided to buy the book so that I could read the entire book! Highly recommend!

One of my favorite authors
He writes from the perspectives of a soldier in the war against colonial exploitation and a healer.

Brilliant
Sad that Fanon died at such a young age. What a brilliant thinker and philosopher. This book is an easy read and it reminds me to stay true to who I am
