Actually way more than 11 years. I got my first Jansport back in 1996 as a kid. It is my understanding that original backpack with the leather bottom is still in use to this day. As it was fashionable back then, my parents would buy me a new backpack each yeah till I hit high school. Only then would I replace the backpack when it was needed, and did it take a ton of abuse. Today I'm sporting another Luxury brand, but my girlfriend wears this backpack and it eventually finds it way back to me every so often. These things are timeless, they look great, they clean up easy, and you even see them alongside the hard-coded, overpriced bag side by side as a demonstration of their uniqueness status. A true, timeless classic.

This backpack seems durable and never goes out of style. A little pricey but will last for many years to come

I had one of these years ago. It was the toughest backpack ever. It went all over the land, across oceans... was over-packed with gear, carried live animals, was dragged through rocks and mud, and even stopped a bullet once - and never so much as shed a thread. Ok maybe that last one isn't true.... but you get the idea. The point is, I lost that backpack. It simply would not die. So how does this compare to the old beast? Seems just a bit smaller, though not much, and not a big deal breaker for me. Straps seem to be a little more flimsy. But still strong. .....both of these things I attribute just to changing times. No one carries 50lbs of books any more. (Thus, the laptop sleeve inside) This new model also has sewn loop pulls/stops on the ends of the adjusting straps. Makes it easier to pull them tight, and stops them from slipping out with movement under load. Overall, still a great quality backpack. Tough material and stitching, solid-feeling zippers, and the reinforced bottom is heavy duty.

It's big, lightweight and durable. The only problem was with one of the straps, I've had it for about a month and one of the straps ripped off. But other than that, I feel it's the best backpack I've ever purchased. It's big enough and well designed to fit my laptop and some books comfortably so the weight is evenly distributed and can still fit my pencils and a charger fine. I take it everywhere, glad to have bought it, even though I thought it was a bit pricy. Definitely recommend it to others looking for a good and simple bag. [Edit] So I found that this back has terrible back support and it takes shape to whatever you place in it. I've recently purchased the Osprey Quantum and it's more of what I wanted in a bag. If you're looking for a simple daypack with minimal design and don't care too much about the efficacy of your bag this is a good purchase.

This is a good backpack for carrying school books. The leather bottom prevents the bottom of the bag from ripping or tearing and it can carry heavy books without any damage. I recommend this as a good school backpack it can carry whatever you need in school. The only suggestion that I have for Jansport is to have a leather covering the top handel grip of the bag to make it easier on your hand. The grip that it currently has is abit stiff and does hurt my hand when I have some heavy books and material in the bag and carry it by the handel alone, or when I use it just to pick the bag up to put in on my back. It is abit thin and does strain my hand.

Jansport rocks! My husband has had one for over 20 years. The strap broke. I bought him this one and it is great Jansport quality. But after all this time, I sent the old one in to JanSport and they repaired it and sent it back at no charge. I did have to pay to ship it to them but that was minimal. Of course at that point he suddenly did have a need for two high quality backpacks. I buy my young son the less expensive ones for school and the quality is still there. We love our JanSports! It is really like the backpack that will last a lifetime unless you just want a different color or style

I adore this backpack and hope that it'll serve me for years to come. I've have owned many backpacks and most of them were big and bulky. This backpack is the PERFECT size for taking around with you every day to hold your commonly used items, to a convention to store goodies, or just when out and about. It's small enough that it doesn't turn you into the hunchback of notre dame and big enough to carry around quite a lot. I decided to remove the JanSport logo on the front and replace it with a patch of female velcro fabric so I can swap out different velcro patches whenever I want. After seeing some the reviewers who have had the suede on the bottom tear, I cut up a piece of an Amazon box and placed it in the bottom for a little extra support if for some reason I decide I need to put something with hard corners into the bag, but I'm really not that worried about it. The cardboard even does a nice job of keeping it sitting upright when it doesn't have anything inside it. I liked mine so much that I even got it signed by David Hayter!

The bag is original Jansport but it’s different from the photos. The actual item is smaller and have bottle compartment. I wanted the bigger version without the bottle compartment. The photos are misleading.

Mochila demais!

I bought this for my fiance as a work bag. He loves it, and quality of jansport is great (he previously had a jansport bag and he used it for 6 years almost every day at Univeristy, then also for work before it wore out). Jansport is well worth the investment as it lasts for years. Trendy looking and would recommend.

Había estado buscando una mochila básica pero que tuviese estilo y que además se me viese bien por mi tamaño (soy alto); esta ha cubierto mis necesidades. Es una de las mochilas insignia de Jansport, en México te hacen válida la garantía de por vida a través del contacto de la página de Facebook de la marca y además está hecha de materiales duraderos. El único problema que he tenido con la mochila ha sido que se rompió una de las correas de adorno de los cierres, sin embargo no afecta para nada la funcionalidad y hasta invita a personalizar tu mochila.
