A timeless classic
I absolutely love The Enormous Egg. I remember my first-grade teacher reading it to me, and now I bought this newer version to share with my son. The artwork is different, but thatโs okayโthe words are what really matter. A classic story thatโs just as fun to read today as it was back then.

A Wonderful Memory to pass on...
I am a 70 year Young Grandma. My 5th Grade teacher read us "The Enormous Egg" and it is a book I'll never forget, so I purchased it to send to my 10 year old Grandson to read. I also told a Friend and he purchased another copy for his Great Granddaughter. Both Children were delighted!!! I even bought another copy to keep and to have available to share. I was a teacher for many years and this book is a delightful read!

Boys and Dinos and perfect combination!
I love this book! I first read it when teaching 4th grade and had never heard of it before. I purchased it for my own son to read whom is now in 3rd grade. Sometimes it is difficult to find chapter books with good/respectable male characters and that also have a topic boys will enjoy and dinosaurs and hard working farm family definitely fit the bill! It is an adorable story of a boy who has a triceratops hatch out of a chicken egg on his family farm. This is a great story of friendship and growing up.

Read aloud fun!
I am reading this book aloud to my nearly 5 year old granddaughter. It is our first chapter book together. She absolutely loves it. It's a bit over the head of the 3 year old so does not pay as much attention. She looks forward to our get togethers and it is such a nice, electronics free activity.

Highly recommended
The Enormous Egg was a favorite book in my youth. Later when I had children I read it to them. I loaned my copy out to a family friend for her daughter to read. She loved it. Now I have just bought a new copy and gave it to another family friendโs daughter and she is reading it now. She gives me updates about once a week. I canโt recommend this book enough.

It's a great story about a hen hatching out a dinosaur.
I bought it to read to my 5 and 7 year old grandsons. Might be better for 8 and up. My children had it read to them years ago and they loved it.

Terrific fun for boys and girls.
Fun and funny fantasy about a chicken laying a dinosaur egg on a small farm in Freedom, New Hampshire. There were a few times when I scratched my head and said, this is implausible only to remind myself: it's a story about a hen laying a dinosaur egg! Once the protagonist gets to Washington he encounters an idiot Senator I thought at first to have been drawn too broadly - too much of a fool. Then I heard Rep. Michelle Bachmann and a few others on the news and realized how spot on Butterworth was. This is a classic "boy" story - Nate Twitchell is kin to Homer Price and Henry Huggins; if you liked their books, you're sure to like this.

Where is the missing copy
Oliver Butterworth, author of this book, employed my aunt Molly, long since deceased, as a governess at the Butterworth family home in Connecticut. My aunt gave me a copy as a child and I enjoyed it so much that I decided to give copies at Christmas to the children of two of my own daughters. I believe I ordered two copies online and paid for them by Visa credit card at a cost of โฌ20.04 but received only one, a very small volume in packaging that must have cost as much as the book itself. Please check my original order, and let me know if I am correct in thinking that I specifically ordered two copies. Regards, Joe Tyrrell

childhood favorite
I loved this book as a child and bought three - one for each of my children's families to enjoy. I reread it and I still love it. It was my first foray into science fiction in a way as the egg is a dinosaur egg. Good story.
