how far does the tv have to be from the wall for the leds to be effective?

Mine is installed on a 60 inch which is on it's stand and about 1.5 feet from the wall. It does a great job of lighting and removes the need for a light on when watching TV in the dark.

Can i plug this into a regular wall outlet with isb adapter?

I found that the new-type adaptive fast charger (i.e., Samsung) didn't work, but the older-type charger worked just fine. You just need to have a charger that supplies the amps required.

My LED lights stay on even when the tv is powered off. why?

Check to make sure they really stay on, or if they eventually go off. I found that on my (TCL and Insignia) Roku TVs, the USB stays powered for about 12 minutes after the TV turns off or the screen saver comes on. That's fine with me because if I fall asleep and the sleep timer turns off the TV, the bias lights go off too (after a little while) and don't interfere with my sleep.

How much current do these draw? my tv says it will only supply 500mA, so that would only be 2.5 watts i think.

Some of the people replying here are seriously tech inept. Just because you buy something that plugs into a USB port doesn't mean it's safe. USB 2.0, which TV's come with only supply 500mA unless specifically told otherwise by the TV manufacture/manual. This means in most, it's only able to provide 0.5amps of the 1.0amps needed which can cause an issue with burning out something on your TV. My TV has a port for hard drives that can output the extra power so that's what I have this hooked up to, but people, please stop assuming everything is OK because some no name company is telling you it's ok. Your TVs are expensive. It's not worth destroying hundreds of dollars. Use a USB power adapter and plug it into the wall or something.
