Wolf Hall & Bring Up the Bodies: The Stage Adaptation

I enjoy experiencing quality literature in various genres. Thus, having read the books (Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies), I had the very good fortune to see the plays on Broadway. I liked them so well, that I wanted to read the script if available. While there might be slight differences because the script was published before the play was in full production in England, it's a great read. Hilary Mantel's character sketches for the actors add much to the depth of the novels as well as the play.

I read both of Mantel’s novels a few years ago. The plays have all the spirit of the novels at 10x the speed. I’m not sure I would have had as much fun if I hadn’t read Manuel’s original works first, but I suspect it would still be a good time.

These are the scripts from the stage shows that played on Broadway and in London. A very good condensation of the two Hilary Mantel books nof the same name. These are different from the TV series, obviously in the confines of a stage production. I love his adaptation.

After seeing the plays on Broadway this was a perfect companion to reread and re-experience the script. Beautifully done

As a novel it is gripping and well worth the read, so long as you do not think that is accurate in the historical content. The only trouble is that it blurs the lines between fiction and history and is convincing in making a double dyed villain into its hero.In showing how Henry viii changed in character it is revealing.

The 32 Hilary Mantel notes on the characters, written to help the actors, make this the FIRST book to buy before buying the books or seeing the play or watching the BBC series. Even her notes are colourfully expressed and invaluable. Please, please, RSC, thes two plays are worth putting on again and committing to film.

Loved the play in London, reading the script brings back memories of the excellent performances. Acting out the parts is most fun.Can't wait for the next installment (which fingers-crossed will get the same adaptations).The order was delivered very quickly and well within the stated time-frame
