Honestly, it a game of trial and error, especially with home made clock like I used this for... I’d order the longest available, you can add washers if needed. Best of luck!😃

Yes, mine is still working. The trick is to use the wheel on the back of the clock and not try to adjust using the hands.

I think they just have a standard size but I bet you could get creative and create an extension of some sort.
