Digitally remastered and expanded edition of this 1975 album from the Scottish rockers including bonus tracks. The album, and the band itself, gained inspiration from their spiritual homeland: America. It's easy to admire Rampant's casually expert take on the vintage Americana which influenced Nazareth. Songs such as 'Silver Dollar Forger' and 'Glad When You're Gone' contain copious tributes to the USA, which had been Nazareth's most lucrative market since the release of the 'This Flight Tonight' single the previous year. Features eight bonus tracks including seven BBC live recordings. Salvo. 2010.

Nazareth..."Rampant"...1974 & 2010 SALVO Remastered CD
I originally bought Nazareth's 1974's "Rampant" album, in the Fall of 1977. Just recently, I ordered the 2010 SALVO Remastered CD. I would like to take the time to review each song, incl., on this album:1. "Silver Dollar Forger" (Parts 1 & 2)...This is a decent song that I like a lot.2. "Glad When You're Gone"...I have always liked this song, quite well. I also enjoy the backing vocals on this song. This seems rather CHEERFUL & funny, for being a "Give them the Heave Ho.....Or a Good Riddance", type of song.3. "Loved & Lost"...This song has always been one of my TOP favorites on this album. It is very HAUNTING, but it ISN'T one of the most uplifting songs @ all. But it really gets right to the point. This ballad could remind me of a lot of Bad Company's one song "Ready For Love", musically, but the ONLY difference is that "Ready For Love" has more of a HAPPIER meaning, as compared to "LOVED & LOST", which is extremely WISTFUL. Even "Glad When You're Gone" is ALSO a sharp contrast (about face) to "Loved & Lost", in it's meaning.4. "Shanghai'd In Shanghai"...When I first heard this song, in the Fall of 1977, it was incl., on Nazareth's "Hot Tracks" hits compilation. I immediately fell in love w/ THIS song, which prompted me to buy the 1974 "Rampant" album. It is the album's shortest song & I think this song is just plain GREAT, in MY opinion. This also has the SAME backing vocals as in "Glad When You're Gone".5. "Jet Lag"...This is the albums LONGEST song. It is pretty good, but it's not a favorite of mine.6. "Light My Way"...I have always loved this song as an EQUAL to "Loved & Lost". I think this is quite HAUNTING & just plain EXCELLENT, in my own opinion.7. "Sunshine"...This is the another slower song, which I always enjoyed a lot, too. It's pretty good.8A. "Shapes Of Things"...This song always seemed so FAMILIAR to me, but I just couldn't pinpoint why. Then it finally dawned on me that it was ORIGINALLY performed by The Yardbirds, from the MID Sixties, (1966) to be exact. I have always LOVED the orig., but ESP. Nazareth's remake of this song. This is ANOTHER of my TOP favorites.8B. "Space Safari"...This is a SPACEY instrumental, which is about a MINUTE or SO long. I think that this song is pretty weird, BUT good.9. "Down"...They call this song, the B-side to "Love Hurts". I COULD have SWORN that "Hair Of The Dog", was on the FLIP SIDE to my 45 RPM single of "Love Hurts" (1975). This song "DOWN" seems to be pretty good. It also reminds me of "Jet Lag", somewhat, in it's melody.BONUS TRACKS...BBC Live In Concert Recordings from May 17, 1973...(includes 7 songs...Live Versions)This album is very good & it's most definitely recommended.

Come on, LIGHT MY WAY!!!!
Such an underrated album; the last gasp before the big breakthrough of '75, this is a punishing collection of tunes from a band that was on a complete tear at the time. In early 1973, recently departed from Deep Purple, Roger Glover hooked up with this up-and-coming band and gave them some much needed help in the studio by helping to Produce what would be three great albums; "Razamanaz", "Loud N Proud" and this. It's a shame that they ended their association with him after such a short but wildly creative time. I feel that they went on to continue to make great music, but the consistency from album to album was never as high as when they were with Glover. Even though the album opens up with the strongest track "Silver Dollar Forger", it does boast some fine killer deep cuts in "Light My Way" and "Sunshine". Salvo did a fine job with the re-masters by throwing in a ton of live cuts that are well worth the listen.

so 'Raz' is unnecessary. I am putting 'Raz'
Pre- Hair of the Dog. The live section features much of 'Raz', but live at BBC, so 'Raz' is unnecessary. I am putting 'Raz', which I purchased as well, into the trash tonight because it contains the song 'Sold My Soul', which does indeed belittle faith in 'God and Jesus', and indicate rather a choice to 'Sold my soul to the devil; bowed to evil sorcery... ect."Pathetic. No wonder they never played that song live, it is an embarrassment.

Will the Real Nazerth Please Stand Up!
This is the best of all the Nazareth recordings...and "Why"? Because the group forwent the schlock the record producers wanted them to play and contrary to advice played what they wanted to! This lp/cd stands the test of time, well- thought out and the playing is the best they've ever done in their entire career. It's the only one I own. Yes, there will be those who will argue that point, but it is melodic, hard- driving and bad to the bone. Probably because it is unlike anything they did before... or since. If I could give this album 6 Stars it would definitely deserve that and possibly more!

Great Guitar Riffs
I have been into Nazareth a long time. I consider this album/CD their best. The guitar effects on this album are like no other, far surpassing any other album the band put together. I remember buying the album upon it's release along with Aerosmith's Get your wings. Having a chance to listen to these two albums at the same time just seemed to be like seeing the evolution of music. Both Albums had new breaking guitar riffs like no other. The music was just spacey. If you are into great vocals and great guitar riffs, along with tight bass & drums, you have to get this album/cd. If you aren't formiliar with the Aerosmith album, you may want to pick that one up to and enjoy a great couple of months absorbing some great music. :)

Impressive Bonus Tracks
This remaster/reissue is fantastic! The extra tracks are the album as it was recorded before the record company demanded a rework, and they're well worth a listen. Greens, and Kentucky fried blues are probably my two favorite tracks, but the entire disc is quite good. Essential for the Nazareth fan.

Manuel Charlton at his best.
Although the whole band does a wonderful job here I think this album shows off Manuel Charlton as well as, or better than, any other Nazareth album. It rocks all the way through. The only reason for four stars instead of five is that while I enjoyed the bonus music from what appears to be a British radio visit, the announcer's chatter was annoying. If you like Nazareth you will enjoy this CD.

Rampant is a very apt name for this disc , The Music is Rampant all over the side with the inscripted portion on it
While this is NOT MY VERY FAVORITE NAZARETH CD / LP it is no doubt a very well put together re-master of the original LP. I do respect the band and the material that they have put out to date and that includes this stuff. This Disc ha on it a grand amount of material that has not managed to find its way onto other top discs outside of Raz A Man A Zazz I wont buy that disc because it simply got played to death for me during my teenage years just like a couple of other discs have ruined other bands for me ...I cannot listen to any C.C.R ( CREEDANCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL ) Nor any further Yardbirds, and very Little Joni Mitchell however They did create enough of their own music that was good enough for me to listen to Nazareth all of most my trips home or to my destination. I feel there is something of substance within the feel of Nazareth's music the heat, the beat and strength which managed to move this group of bar boys from Scotland all the way around the world

Vintage Nazareth
I had the oppoortunity to attend a Nazareth Performance this past summer. Macafferty and the boys still got it. The first song of the show was Silver Dollar Forger ,I have heard this tune before and did not realize it was a Nazareth tune . Saw the show and bought this album after researching to find out which album it was on. I am Impressed, well worth the money .

Rampant's always been my favourite Nazareth album
Rampant's always been my favourite Nazareth album, and this remastered edition shakes the dust off all that great music. The extra live tracks are a nice bonus, well-recorded and the band sounds great. A solid update of a classic.
