Adult. Bought large for my guy friend. He is 5'10

I'm still confused by the answers to the size question. I have a 9 and 12 year old - they are both average size. Are these kid sizes for adult sizes

These are adult sizes. Sorry it took me so long. Btw, the shirts are long in length.

I am confused about the size. One answer says it is a kids size the other says buy an adult small. What size for 14 yr old who wears adult small?
