Reading Comprehension Success in 20 Minutes a Day 5th Edition

This was really good! Just what I needed to improve my reading. It's of great value to me. After numerous low quality items, I'm very pleased to say I got something worth the money I paid. It really gives you structured learning from the ground up. You start off with strategies (writing up the pages, skimming, contrasting, underlining, going back over etc. Them you move into the practice area. Its real good.

I like everything about this book except the lack of practice questions. It is incredibly thorough except for this one point.

While not flawless, the book is still in excellent condition. A couple of creases on the back cover and a few nicks here and there, but otherwise excellent condition from the first page to the last page. Well worth the buy!

Before explaining about my review, the one star is ONLY about both Pretest Answers (List of 50 answer keys on pg. 17) and Pretest Answer Explanations (An explanation for the problem #18 on pg. 21) of the book. From several practice books, novels, and textbooks, I saw one or two mistakes such as wrong historical facts, incorrect years, misspellings, name typos, mistranslated words, omitted letters or symbols etc.I know human authors and editors are not infallible, but 6 ERRORS in Reading Comprehension by Learning Express (5th edition)??? Was the author or the editor drunk when s/he typed answer keys for Pretest chapter?Did LearningExpress discover these errors before they published the book? Or, was LearningExpress aware of this problem, but they felt lazy to make any revision because the book was already published? How many people have or will realize that some of their wrong answers may actually be CORRECT? I made this unexpected discovery after noticing an unusually low score in my pretest. When I checked every single answer in the book's scantron, I immediately identified the problem.The following is the list of found errors. I manually marked these errors in my 2 uploaded Amazon Customer Images. If you're visiting the product's web page (Reading Comprehension Success in 20 Minutes) these 2 images should be displayed somewhere in the website.<List of 6 Errors>Total of found errors: 6* 5 errors from Pretest Answers (pg. 17)1) Problem #23: Correct answer is choice D, Not choice C.2) Problem #45: Correct answer is choice C, Not choice A.3) Problem #48: Correct answer is choice A, Not choice B.4) Problem #49: Correct answer is choice A, Not choice D.5) Problem #50: Correct answer is choice C, Not choice A.* 1 error from Answer Explanations (pg. 21)Explanation about the error: Problem #18 is a word comprehension question. In the explanation, why are all 4 answer choices (A,B,C,D) labeled incorrect? In this test problem, the word "surmise" means "to guess". Therefore the answer MUST be choice D. However in the book, choice D is erroneously labeled "wrong".Conclusion: Besides the 6 errors from Pretest section, there are no significant issues in other sections of the book. I'm just appalled by how LearningExpress got away with their 6 Fat Errors that should have been eliminated before the official publication. Well, I already wrote/ doodled something in the book. So, the REFUND may not be an easy option. If anyone wishes to report any complaint, just contact Learning Express: 1-800-295-9556 ext. 2 or [email protected]. I will just call the customer service even though it won't produce any significant result or change.If I were the director of LearningExpress, I'll definitely threaten to fire whoever made careless, dumb mistakes that could have been prevented. LearningExpress should be ashamed of their questionable credibility as both reviewer and publisher of the book.
