Review: A really good resource for all photographer - This is a great resource. I am a experienced amateur photographer but still found this to be both quite readable and full of insights that are very helpful! It highlighted things (like the proper use of colors in an image and how exactly your sensor works) that are well worth understanding. A great book worth going through again and again! Review: Educational book - I liked the book so much that I recommended it to the vocational school I work at. We decided to make this book our text book for the graphic arts class and ordered enough books for every student.

Good book but not really advanced
This is more of an intermediate level book that is brief and to the point. It covers topics with a 2 page introduction section, followed by a 2 page explanation of the topic, then 2 page exercises where you practice. For example, it introduces exposure in 2 pages, explains the camera modes for controlling exposure in 2 pages, then has a series of 2 page exercises for the each mode. If you already understand exposure, composition, using different lenses and filters you likely don't need this book.

Brilliant presentation and comprehensive
I am an experienced amateur who has and uses top line equipment on a full frame DSLR. Sure I didn't learn a great deal new from this but I found it interesting and it focuses knowledge. For me an excellent book to return to and browse. I am sure that less experienced or knowledgeable photographers will find it a good route out of "point and shoot" into better photography. I suggest that you disregard some of the elitist claptrap in other reviews.

This was a gift for my sister-in-law, who is an avid amateur photographer. She loved the book, and said it included several techniques that will improve her photography.
