Review: Seems to work & marks the beginning of a life style change - This is quite a good cure for my seemingly mild acid reflux and heartburn problems, and would recommend. The Guardium OTC capsules are a 14 day program, after which you stop and if there is no relief you are advise to contact your GP. So as far as I understand, this is not meant as a permanent tablet program, which also would also be fairly costly. It comes with a long list of instructions and warnings. The package contains two strips of 7 medium sized brown tablets each. One pill needs to be swallowed once per day for a period of 14 days. Capsules need to be swallowed with a lot of water, but it is fairly tasteless. I bought this after having been long in denial and only having the occasional severe highly reflux episode fowling a lot fo alcohol and fatty food. However, I have mild asthma and a related syndrome is GERD, gastroesophageal reflux disease where stomach acid frequently flows back into esophagus (the tube connecting my mouth and stomach (esophagus). Even though I didn’t notice it and suffer as much from the acid reflux itself, it permanently irritates my oesophagus and throat resulting in constant dry coughs, a sore throat and a feeling of reduced air intake. My GP had already repeatedly warned me to stop drinking coffee, alcohol ect as these act as triggers. But I ignored the suggestions as it was a big ask. However the issues got worse so I decided to actually change my lifestyle as this GERD thing can have quite serious consequences in the mid term. So no more more beloved weekly alcoholic beverages. My high coffee intake has been reduced to one wake-up 'cuppa'. I banned spicy food. No more fizzy drinks or evening snacks. And my bed has been tilted. All quite sad really. To cut a long story short, in order to also stop the influx straight away I ordered this cure. And as said, the Guardium, combined with my much more sober lifestyle eased the symptoms after a few weeks already. Sorry for the long winded rationale, but a common source of acid influx are food and lifestyle choices, so there is something to consider for others as well here - these Guardium tablets will help you dealing with the symptoms but probably not their cause.

**Q: Is esomeprazole the same as omeprazole?**
A: Hi Angela, good question this what I found; 

Omeprazole and esomeprazole (found in Nexium) are similar medicine. However, there are minor differences in their chemical makeup. Guardium contains two isomers of the drug omeprazole, while Nexium only contains one isomer. Isomer is a term for a molecule that includes the same chemicals, but is arranged in a different way. So, you could say that omeprazole and esomeprazole are made of the same building blocks, but put together differently. While the differences in isomers might seem minor, they can result in differences in how medicines work. For example, the isomer that’s in Nexium is processed more slowly than Guardium in your body. This means that levels of the drug are higher in your bloodstream, and that esomeprazole may decrease acid production for a longer period of time. It may also work slightly faster to treat your symptoms compared to omeprazole. Esomeprazole is also broken down differently by your liver, so it may lead to fewer medicine interactions than omeprazole. 
On a personal basis I have found Nexium does last longer at keeping my acid reflux at bay rather than Guardium, I regularly take Nexium 1 or 2 a week, I tried Guardium, which is very good, but didn’t last in my system as long for my particular needs. I hope that helps x

**Q: is this the same as nexium**

**Q: what is the expiry date ?**
A: It’s a while ago since I purchased mine, but it had a reasonably long expiry date on mine, I went back to Nexium though as I found they controlled my acid reflux for longer.

**Q: The pack says there are 14 tablets but elsewhere in the description it says there are 7 tablets (which one reviewer confirms too).  So which is it?!**
A: Hi, I purchase the 14 tablet pack and receive 14 in the pack. Packs of 7 are available though. Hope this helps
