I had an old one of these units and finally broke down and purchased this item...100% improvement over the older one...easy to use and ergonomics are marvio. The forward and reverse function is great. This is a very simple unit to work and it plows there woods as a screw drive with ease. Great Item Amazon and Black and Decker. The good, the bad, and the DR340C...
I bought drill this after scouring the web for a good "budget" 3/8 variable speed reversible drill. Time and time again, this would pop up in the various "Top 10" or "Top 5" budget (under $35) corded drill reviews. I am happy to report that there are many things to like about this budget drill including: 1. Keyless chuck. There are many budget corded drills out there with a keyless chuck, but many have the two-handed type chuck, where you have to use both hands to tighten or loosen a bit in the chuck. This drill has a single collar (one handed) chuck. With this type, you tighten or loosen the single collar against the inherent resistance to turn from the geartrain and motor of the drill. It is VERY convenient! The longer single collar chuck also allows you to get a greater portion of your hand onto the collar for tightening/loosening. 2. Ergonomics. The ergonomics of this drill are very good. Not only does the forward handle placement on the drill make it well balanced, but the overmolded grip/handle feels extremely comfortable and secure in your hand. 3. Power! This baby has got it going on when it comes to power. It easily powered home the #10 x 3.5" (star drive) wood screws that I was using. Also, the trigger has a nice progression to it that allows precise control. Most other drills in this category are not close to 6 amps (~720 watts)! This is why I bought this drill and wanted a corded drill for my project! The drill also had a few not so good things about it: 1. The forward reverse buttons are LONG! Everytime I exchanged a bit, I would somehow inadvertently reverse the drill direction. I found that I was pushing on the F/R switch while holding to do the exchange...? Annoyingly, I would have to then press the F/R switch the other direction to do the drilling. Once you look at the switch (buttons) you can see why they get accidentally pressed. This is clearly a design flaw, IMHO. 2. Drill chuck (shaft?) end play. No joke. My drill has approximately 1/4" of drill chuck end play! It didn't seem to affect operation of the for how I was using it, but it is still unnerving. You keep thinking that the chuck is going to fall off! I am not sure if this is a one-off problem with my drill or an inherent problem in manufacturing. I will keep an eye on it over the next few weeks and see if it gets worse. The drill has a two year warranty, so I might take them up on a repair if needed. Overall, if someone needed a powerful budget variable speed drill, this one would still get the nod!

Black & Decker drill/driver - a woman's review
My spouse has lots of drills that do lots of things but I bought this drill/driver to use in the house on my small basic tasks. I love that it is corded, no batteries to charge, ready to go when I need it. It is handy to hold and feels substantial yet lightweight. It handles the old heart pine, hard as stone, wood in my house with no trouble. I know very little about drill/drivers but I love what I can do with this one. It's not too big, it's not too small; for me, it's just right.

LOTS of power
I love this drill, although I don't find it to be a replacement for my battery-powered Porter Cable. This drill is lighter weight and packs a punch! When I had to drill through metal to install wood slats on my electric gate, this was my go-to drill for the pilot holes. I used the PC to finish the job because this drill would strip the screws during the final push.

Love this
Putting a ton of screws in by hand is really a drag. This makes it so simple it’s great.

Serves purpose of small home, use now and then
2019 Oct 15 Has worked for everything I need for 2.5 yrs so far... Fits nicely into a prior B&D (battery-operated) case, so I was happy about that! Otherwise, I prefer this over the mobile one due to power and not having to deal with low/weak battery or eventually trying to find a replacement.
