This kit was such a fun way to explore our taste genetics as a family. It comes with four types of strips—PTC, thiourea, sodium benzoate, and a control—and it was fascinating to see how differently each of us responded. One of us was a clear supertaster, another couldn’t taste anything at all! Even though instructions weren’t included, we didn’t need them—it’s very self-explanatory, and everything is clearly labeled. The quality was great, and we had some really interesting conversations afterward. Highly recommend for families, classrooms, or anyone curious about their taste perception!

The kit comes well-protected in a box (see my picture) and includes four tubes of 100 slips of paper: control paper, PTC test paper, thiourea test paper, and sodium benzoate test paper. I'm a biology teacher and do a genetics section every semester, so this is perfect. I can do 2 or 3 classes out of one kit, depending on enrollment. I also really appreciate that it uses a control paper to teach good practice. The instructions are clear and include both a simplified version for quick testing and a full lab activity for classrooms or group settings. However, the instructions are not included - you have to scan the QR code on the box to get them offline. Sort of a pain. In the classroom, this is a hit. Students loved discovering whether they were “supertasters,” and it kicked off some discussion about dominant and recessive genes. Overall, this kit is well-designed, easy to use, and provides an engaging way to learn about taste genetics. Plus, affordable always works for teachers. Highly recommend for teachers, science enthusiasts, or anyone curious about their own taste sensitivity.

These worked great for my food science class. I just needed to google which was which since I didn’t know! They were fun and very easy to use!

It would be nice to have the instructions included. They must be downloaded, no biggie.. As a chef I wanted to know and I made 75%, my chef is a 100% super taster extreme!

I'm a food scientist and had not tested my tasting abilities in years- especially after COVID. I'm happy to say, I still meet the criteria for super taster! I love to experience human nature as well. Even though the results are based on genetics, it's always so interesting to see how others experience taste. This unformation is helpful in food product development.

Great kit and the lab they included was good. The lab is designed more for elemntary studsents though, I would say. I run an 8th grade science class and needed to modify the lab a little to increaser the rigor.

This was such was fun test to do with the family. The kit came as described. It does not come with instructions but does come with a QR code on the box. Just scan it and it will take you to the instructions and printable sheets. This is a classroom kit with 100 strips in each tube so we will be sharing it with lots of friends.

Useful to evaluate deviation of bitter taste sensation among a group of people.

These are great fun. I recommend covering them up with numbered paper for a double-blind test.

Comme décrit dans l'annonce, c'est un test à utiliser en cours de génétique (d'analyse sensorielle pour mon cas) histoire de montrer les variations personnelles de goût, et même les différences génétiques. Simple et efficace, je suis satisfait des premiers essais. A voir en vrai cours maintenant.

loads and loads of test papers! (great value) fun social activity for friends/family gatherings and for schoolchildren. Some tasted 3, others tasted none. It would have been better if there were clearer instructions/explanations of what do the 3 different tastes mean; and if someone tastes 2 out the three, or 1 out of the 3 means? I had to google search for answers.
