National Geographic goes inside the training of the special elite force of K-9s dedicated to serving the country. The Alpha Dogs have jumped out of helicopters to capture Osama Bin Laden and have tracked Saddam Hussein. They're in police departments, the Secret Service and every branch of the military.

Amazing training...amazing dogs...amazing people
We had the rare opportunity of visiting these gentlemen at their training facility recently. While their language is pretty salty on this show (lots of bleeps, probably should have been bleeped more), they were complete and utter gentlemen when my daughters and I were receiving a tour in person. We got to see several teams in training, and it was a wonderful experience. These men (and women!) are **passionate** about saving military and police lives utilizing these dogs. We have learned so much about what goes into training these dogs. Walking on their property, seeing the dogs in action, seeing them training both humans and dogs, walking through the kennels, petting and interacting with many of the dogs themselves - it was all amazing. I highly recommend this video series for probably age 12 or 13 and up. Some of the suspect apprehension scenes can be intense. *Strong* language warning.

The Real Working Dog Show
What can I say? I loved every episode. Motivated me to keep active with my dogs. These guys know working dogs! I mean "working dogs" not just Schutzhund Sport.

Training the men for Alpha Dogs
This is a 2 disc set with a total of about 5 hours and 52 minutes of film. It shows 16 shows of the Vohne Liche Kennels, that train dogs for the police, the military and Special Forces. It has English subtitles and an extra of some video blogs. The trainers pride themselves on only letting dogs go to their jobs that are the best trained, including the handlers. We mainly see the training of the handlers - the men who will use these dogs in their jobs. There are many interesting techniques shown. Most would probably never think of the fact that the dog must be calmed down after they have calmed the suspect. We see the problems and the solutions with both the dogs and the trainers. One of the disappointments with this whole series is that we see the dogs when they are already trained and working. The real question that remains is how they begin or even if this kennel does the original training of the dogs. It is still a query how a dog is taught to sniff out narcotics, explosives, money or even cell phones. We see the kennel personnel in many situations presenting their dogs to law enforcement and military. They show how they can discover hidden cell phones in prisons, narcotics in cars. lockers and luggage. This is an extremely interesting film, but I became more aggravated that there was no mention of how this original training was done.It is fascinating to see the perfection in the dogs and handlers training. We also see some of the conflicts in the kennel personnel and one cannot help but be affected by a memorial service for some of the dogs killed in action. This is a fascinating video for those who love dogs and are interested in how they and especially their handlers are trained to handle them for military and law enforcement.

They are truly Alpha Dogs and handlers
I truly enjoyed watching what goes into training these dogs. Anyone who loves dogs and how they save our men and women will love this. Also interesting is the other areas of training for working for the good of man. A must see in my book!
